Gaming pc (future proof) gpu in hand

@Plec okay, thank you :D installing now (pro 10)
Excellent.

Apologies for all of this when your youngest is not thereself, I feel awful pestering! Hope the poor thing is soon on the mend.
And don't feel bad - they're literally glued by me and on occasionally sprawled across me - they're quite comfortable sharing their germs with Dad. Plus, they have full control of the Disney channel - so i'm being tortured with endless Phineas and Ferb and occasional Gravity Falls (If you haven't got kids these titles will probably go straight over your head). Luckily, they're the better kids programs...

Haha yes very familiar, one 6yo and a 10month old. Its either how to train a dragon series or peppa pig atm!!! Oinkkkk
I enjoy HTTYD - well, the first time round (they watch that too) - Pepper Pig drove me nuts but not as much as Dora the f'ing explorer did. That grating, shouty voice - PTSD...

Yes, WiFi all working. I have the router in the living room (pc in study) I have a tp link deco unit that is Ethernet wired in from the deco to pc....

Download directly from Gigabyte the following - apart from 2080Ti driver which you grab directly from Nvidia. Once all downloaded unpack/install in the order described (my preferred order) and note reboots - sometimes it will reboot for you/recommend.

Once windows has installed and restarted (manually) - install:
  • Chipset drivers - reboot
  • WLAN+BT
  • Audio
  • LAN
  • Reboot if not offered before
  • Nvidia drivers

Some drivers may restart your machine or recommend that you do - this is normal. And don't worry if your screen blacks out during some installs.

Thumbs up. Everything working as it should be (lighting fast too) Should I be checking temps again?
Yep, that time - download:

Core Temp - then install. Read idle temps - post back (we will install HW Monitor at a later date)

Then download:

Prime 95 - we will the run some small FFTs for 5 minutes to make sure your cooler is attached properly/gunk spread properly. But, we'll take the idle temps first.

Once we've established temps are stable download STEAM and have a play - and make note of your temps occasionally. This is the best stability test - using and abusing your system with games/browsing/YouTube etc...

Then we'll fine tune the rest tomorrow.

These 10900Ks do run hot - although your temps maybe slightly warmer due to your reseating without cleaning/reapplying paste.

That said - these synthetic test temps are nowhere near the temps that it will hit while gaming. Synthetic tests are designed to punish the CPU and examine its speed and in turn drag out any stability issues.

I'm going to be out of action now for an hour or so and then sporadically on and off during the night.

Download STEAM or ORIGIN etc and start playing your favourite game/s and monitor temps

If you have any other immediate questions ask now? (I'll keep checking back but responses may not be as immediate as finished my work and kids need feeding etc.. but will be back later tonight if i don't get any kick back from my last email.)

If youre happy with these temps (as in im in no immediate danger) then I am one happy bunny with no further Qs. I truly cannot express my gratitude towards you @Plec. I am forever grateful of your time, kindness and your generosity. I would not be sat on this new rig right now if it wasn't for you. :D:D:D

Yes, please, enjoy some time away from this and rest!!

Once again, I thank you sincerely, wise one :D

>You give me too much credit<
No problem and have fun!!!

Temps are acceptable for Cinebench 20 (a little high as its not clocked - but the 10900K does run hot - @orbitalwash?) - as mentioned Synthetic tests are not representative of everyday use and your gaming temps will be significantly lower and far more relevant and representative (so keep core temp loaded when you play).

I'll be back later so will be interested in your temps/gaming.

Apologies for late reply - TEAMS started again - email kick back.
