Hello.

I am looking for a gaming pc and don't really have a clue to where to start, it will be for playing games, battle field 4 etc. I don't need the monitor or keyboard etc but will need it to be able to connect to the wifi. I will need the pc built, I do not know anyone that could build it for us.

The person it is for would like a Nvidia graphics card, that much I do know! If possible I would like to get a gaming pc that wont be out of date in 6 months.

Can anyone advise me, or point me in the right direction?

Thank you very much for any help.:)

Hi stulid, thank you for replying. Yes it will need to have an OS.

My budget is a bit flexible, after weeks of reading, I am still not sure how to make sure I get the best set up that I can, so thank you for your time.

Thank you so much for this help. It's for my son.. He better be putting as much thought into my gift from Santa ;)

I am not sure about resolution, I'm sorry. I do know that he has a 24" monitor. That probably doesn't help does it? Sorry.

We would like the best graphics card that we can get, with the intel i5 that you listed. Is it then just a case of asking the store to build for us?

Thank you again.

Yes, point them to the post/basket I have listed and see what they say.

Ask in customer services.

What I will say is that going AMD on the CPU to get the best card you can afford (i.e the GTX970) will be better for gaming.

And various videos out recently from Linus Tech Tips and Tek Syndicate also say just get the best card you can afford.

Subtracting £22.50 for the cashback and assuming you get free shipping with code SFCASE then this totals £728.50, + £60 for build charge makes £788.50

Windows can be installed via USB by OcUK I think, or add £13 to the total making £801.50, or add a CPU cooler of choice
Best of both worlds this way

A few pointers OP,

Haswell like fast RAM that is why I put 2400Mhz rated stuff in, AMD doesn't matter and most of the boards are limited in speed anyway.

The cashback is not instant either, you have to wait 30 days before you can even make the claim (and before the 60th day on the receipt) then once approved it can take a further 30 days for it to be paid.

Thank you both so much! I really appreciate this, to me it's like a different language all this stuff lol.

I think it deff has to be the 970 graphics card, thank you.

Shivy, what cooler would you add to that? Does it definitely need one?

Sorry for all the extra questions.

And one more question (most likely will end up more than one!) if he wanted over time to upgrade and had the confidence to learn how to do it, would that build with the GTX970 allow that?

And would it be a case of unpacking, plugging this in and playing - bar the odd thing? But it would be ok on wifi?

Would you be happy with such a build? Would you enjoy gaming on it?

See! I knew it would be more that one question! This forum is a lifesaver, thank you.

I would be happy with it, play BF4 no problem upto 1440P resolution.

What do you mean buy upgrades?

extra RAM? sure, add more in the free slots.

extra GTX970 for SLI, can be added but the PSU needs to be 750W for that.
