Gauntlet 2009 Joiners Thread!

Damn, there was me hoping the i7 would allow me to keep up or even gain some lost ground and there you go speeding up your gfx clients ;)

Just looking at the improvements in performance with the new dll's......

By the looks of it the estimate of a 50% improvement looks to be a little low.

Tasks are now taking less than half the time to complete than they were yesterday.

But I guess only time will tell.

I still feel I let the side down a little tho.....as I knew about the dll's (and had them ready on my desktop) but forgot to use them.

10 minutes on the ol' spanker for you methinks. :p

I've been slightly slacking. One of my two work crunchers was getting rather loud (it's shoved behind a cupboard but I - and everyone else nearby - could still hear it). That's 50 PPD lost. Do you think anyone will notice? :D

Oh, and I have to actually use the laptop for work, so occasionally it has to be not on. :(

Well, I'm at the limit for the time being, even put Batman and Need For Speed on hold til after the Gauntlet.

But I'm expecting a little increase in numbers now everything is running how it should be.

:)

Well I was considering a PS3 whilst the Gauntlet was on, that way I could run F@H whilst at work and use it for the Blu-Rays instead of the DVD.

Plus, the PC is playing up at the mo.....won't play Blu-Rays (even tho it did last week) and keeps loosing info on the 2x1TB Raid 0 setup. But I think it may have something to do with the nvidia drivers.

Gonna leave it be for the time being as SETI is running fine and waiting for Win7 to be released.

There's currently an issue with the database:

Unable to connect to database - please try again later Error: 2013Lost connection to MySQL server at 'reading initial communication packet', system error: 113

Thankfully I've also got enough work to last me several days. I also currently have 270 WUs waiting to send, which I can see going up substantially as I'm not sure if any of the Berkeley staff work weekends, so the issue might not be resolved until Monday.

They sometimes log in remotely to check on things, and can sometimes give things a kick to get things going again.

Looking at the Server Status page, I seriously doubt they'll be able to sort that out over a remote link. :( :(

It's serious enough that it probably won't be fixed until Monday. Looks like most of my systems are good for 24-36 hours, but will probably run dry before it gets fixed. :(

This may hurt the higher producers most, so might level the playing field a bit.
