gcse results today :(

Don't worry about it, you only need 4 C's or above, seldom does it even matter in what. From there you go College to University.
Not once have I actually needed to provide proof of my GCSE's either, for all anyone knows I have 9 A*'s or 9 C's.

Hell, I studied advanced Art & Design at college without actually taking GCSE Art at all.
To be honest, I've experienced the same with my A Levels and such.

Never once have I been asked to prove what marks I got in any exam I've taken; for any job interview I've ever been to.

I work as an SEO, programmer and general 'server monkey' for a web design company...

I got employed because of my knowledge of hardware/software and general computer knowledge - not because of my results.

So don't worry, it's not the end of the world if you don't get what you want. ;)

I get mine on the 24th although I already know I've got 2 B's for Business as we did the exam in Feb this year and our teacher marked the coursework, need 5 C's to do level 3 IT in college.

In answer to a few people about my gcse's

The problem was is that my whole family expected like 9 b's

Very educational family you see, most of them teach at college/uni

Ah well, i probably went to the worst school in the north west so thats my excuse :D

My mum is expecting all A*s or As. I'm 99% sure I haven't got this, so it's not going to be a good day for me. Kind of the same parents, my mum's got an engineering and an accounting degree, and works at a university.

I know I've got at least 4 As though. :)

Last time i checked, if you dont have 5 A-C's 2010 + You are basically screwed for college etc

^I would't worry mate, aslong as you get 5 A-C you will be grand

Unless you wanna be an artist and u fail art or something :p - then it might get a lil difficult

I'm not worried about my grades, I know I've got way more than enough to get into 6th form (So far, I've got in based on 1 subject alone as it gave me 4 As, so I've got enough points :)), I'm only worried about my mum's response to them.

I didn't take art. ;)

Unless you go to oxbridge it'll probably be fine, providing you meet the grades well at 6th form.

Did you get C or above in maths and English, as that's sometimes a requirement for subjects where the A-level requirements don't include them.

Two c's in english

D at maths

This is because i had a russian teacher and a class full of chavvie boys

For maths that is :D

He was our football coach as well, thats how budget our school was

honestly no need to worry about GCSEs unless your going to a fancy college that requires you to get the 5 Cs

all the colleges round here take anyone in :D

a c or above in maths and english is obviously an advantage but its not the end of the world

i got dead worked up over getting my gcses right but have never been asked about them since really

I ballsed up my GCSE's two years ago, only got a few C's. Retook Maths & English and got C's in them.. (Im actually a mathtard, so a C in that for me, even though a retake made me over the moon)

So i did a access course since i didnt have good enough grades for A levels that i wanted to do at the time which meant 50% college and 50% at 6th form... i dispised 6th form, but the college course got me onto a diploma for ICT...which i love

So failing GCSE's got me into a great situation really

We needed ~4as 2 bs, with As in the subjects we wanted to take.

I think todays GCSE's are not worth the the paper they are printed on. If you can spell your name correctly you have passed.

23rd for me.

My pessimistic outlook for me is that I'm going to get 1 D, 4B's and 2 A's.
My optimistic outlook is that I'm going to get 1 C, 3 A's and 3 A*.

I'm more inclined to head for the pessimistic outlook personally. :(

Edit-

Out of interest, when did you do your GCSE's? It seems the older the person, the more they feel that GCSE's aren't worth anything.
