GD Downgrade.

You forgot the "omg latest clique got banned". :p

Personally I think GD has got a lot better from what we had a while back (even with the Muslim threads as at least now there is more proper discussion rather than trolling). :)
You also forget "omg, latest clique think they are the forums and don't need to abide by the rules" ;)

GD has always been very tabloid, but there are some good threads.

Interestingly, I find that there tends to be a very few select individuals who are perhaps behind much of the complaints in each negative portion of the cycle. I'm not saying that the posters in question purely post rubbish, only that they seem to be rather ubiquitous. They're almost like fad members, in that they must hog the limelight, then later on at some undisclosed date, will either calm down and become a regular, mature poster, or will leave/get banned.

It noticeably improves when the kiddies go back to school though.

Im in GD now, so yeh its better than a few months ago for sure.

Some good threads, the best is coming next month till about Feb though as ever.

If you have a problem with posts sending decent threads off into a spam fest then just RTM the post.

No... the terms are not mutually exclusive, I was merely stating that quality of post is not a factor as to how many replies it will get, but contraversiality IS. I don't mind controversial topics
That's more a flaw of internet forums in general though. Because they work on an updating basis, and good posts will get less replies than debatable ones, you're always really going to suffer from this.

I dont bother much with GD these days, i occasionally browse it but i rarely post in here now. I think OcUK in general is becoming slightly over moderated at times, and people cant say what they feel without it being deleted.

In its quest to be family friendly i feel it makes older people keep their opinions to them selves a lot of the time.
Its no more harshly moderated now than ever - but the strict rules is what keeps me here and IMO is what makes this place.

As am I. Wonder who had the biggest impact ;)

True, you don't get as many idiots on OcUK as you do in a lot of the other forums (or at least mods are fast enough to delete ;) ). People generally seem to be up for a laugh as well (within reason anyway) and you get a good mix of society posting for a nice range of views.

There are so many people who I personally considered to be good posters who seem to have fallen off the edge of the internet.

I dont have the internet at home anymore, so i'm not online much anyway.

I got a little fed up with gd when the whole 'smear it with mustard, punch it in the ovaries and nuke it from space lolz' phase happened. As far as I'm concerned, that phase really wasnt funny, and tiresome is too gentle a word for it.

I've been into gd a handful of times over the last month or 2. Every time, i've scrolled through the thread titles and felt that I could predict what the thread would be about and what the replies would be. And then I've left without looking at any threads.

God damn unclear wording.

It was intended to read like this:

I am now posting in GD, I would not before due to its low quality, I now find topical issues to talk about and enjoy rofling at general comments. Before I could not find such amusement from the blue screen.

That sounds better, just give Gilly all the credit as I cant be bothered to argue with him as he always makes me look simplistic. :p

It keeps me going at work. Got me in trouble a few times where I've burst out laughing at pictures and comments though :p

I remember when it was split up a couple of years ago. What a disaster that was. Most thought it was the solution to saving it, but it wasn't.

I don't mind GD so much. Full of a lot of crap but its not hard to ignore it..

No, it's not hard to ignore the crap. But there has been so much crap in here over the past that we seem to have lost a few of the regulars. And I personally have gotten so used to avoiding the crap that I just dont bother very much anymore.
