Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

Ugg, 2080 Ti trickling out will suck if true.

Yeah, how will you ever manage with just a titan volta to fall back on.

So what's the tldr - regardless of price is the 2080 looking THAT much better than the 1080? /i am seeing articles claiming 40-60% improvement?

Wait for reviews first but is the marketing trick one here.
All the numbers Nvidia has published are at 4K, where the GTX1080 10gbps (used as reference) is struggling due to 320Gb/s bandwidth. (GTX1080 11gpbs has +10% more bandwidth)

One game used a reference supports FP16 (Wolvenstein) hence it pull ahead over the Pascal cards.
Same applies to HDR where all Pascal cards are suffering also.

So the RTX2080 will be in par to the GTX1080Ti when comes to normal SDR gaming without ray tracing etc.

Have a look here.

Don't believe Nvidia and large sections of the tech press who have sold out their ethics for early access to Nvidia's hardware with the companies restrictive NDA attached.

This has turned said outlets into little more then an addition of the marketing department of Nvidia....

In current games at resolutions more typically used by gamers (1440p) those customers buying an xx80 card (non ti) will not likely see anything like the gains touted if they buy a 2080 instead of a 1080.

The customers buying a 2080 will however pay a big premium for supposed access to 'next gen' features (I. E the hybrid raytracing) where early indications are that these will be features that are:

1) not very well supported for some time in many titles

And

2) not particularly well suited, even in time, to the processing power available from a 2080.

As by the time such features become more widespread faster GPU's will be out and a card like the 2080 won't necessarily have the power to run these extra features at high resolutions at a decent frame rate

Can't believe Tom's Hardware unbelievable shilling for the cards with that article by their editor.
At the end of the day though, what he says is correct, I wasn't planning on getting one however after reading that article I've decided now I'm going to put a pre-order in for a 2080ti when I get paid on the 1st.

Guy has a point though, at some point Jay and HC became just entertainers instead of real tech journo's.

GN is def my new go-to, and I'll even donate.
The "YouTube generation" want everything to be funny/entertaining. They have no time for dry facts, figures and comparisons.

It's no wonder that the traditional reviewers are being replaced by entertainers.

It's just replicating what happened to the long-ago TV channels like History, Nat Geo, etc. Started as channels for factual, historical and educational programmes; now are all about "Ancient Aliens", mermaids and obnoxious people being loud whilst driving impractical cars.

I love this honest post, guess I will hope the 2080 drops in price then! Definitely makes sense regarding when games actually support the new tech the card might actually be redundant.

Lost a bit of respect for Jay there. I’ve seen a few incidents similar to this over the last couple of years and he bites so hard.

He seems to have greatly changed once he hit the 1 Million goal for Youtube.

Heh! Yet so many diss fake news? In a world of nearly everything being fake.

Remember the good old days where Open University was on BBC Two through the night?

Though it is funny what you can find on Youtube.
