Geohot to make it rain again with Limera1n

or is this reversible now?

can just restore cant you ? i hope...

as for waiting well its 100% fine on iphone4. its not something that causes bugs or problems it just either works or doesnt work. and on some older devices well it doesnt work

thats whats annoying people so much because greepoison today was supposed to work on every single device and now its not coming

The other developers are mad for good reason. The iPhone jailbreak developers usually all agree on a single exploit at a time, because releasing multiple will just help Apple block up more holes at the same time.

This Geohot guy, with his massive ego, decided to come in at the last minute, despite knowing there was an upcoming jailbreak that used a different exploit and potentially ruin all the work that had gone into the other Jailbreak.

Now they need to decide if theirs is worth releasing, because there has been one or two reported problems with Limera1n, but then Apple have both exploits out in public to block. Whereas, one exploit, Apple block that, then another exploit is ready immediately.

must be loads of exploits though :p and as they are all claming that the jailbreaks are unpatchable unless you change hardware..

how has he ruined it ? the shatter exploit is saved for another day ? he just beat them timewise and they cant take it and are spouting rubbish.

the kids/guys doing that shatter/greenpoision one seem like the ones with massive egos to me. they have spent weeks/months being arsey to people on twitter about it. sometimes its best to remain silent and let your work do the talking like geohot just did

oh and problems with limera1n ? people need to remember it is a BETA ! id expect it to be working fine on all devices by its release date tommorow (fairly sure it is now)

This is its a good thing for us 3GS owners because the Chronic team only works on the A4 chip.

Sodding useless for the only currently unjailbreakable iPhone, my 3GS.

Im going to give Limera1n a week and give the Dev Team a go at updating Pwnagetool before I jailbreak my 3GS.

Exactly, this is why I'll wait a day or two before doing it to make sure my version isn't a release candidate like the current one.

I thought that Apple had put 'markers' in the 4.1 firmware that meant they could pick up Jailbreaks even after a restore... is that right?

So if they can see you've done a Jailbreak even after a restore, that will void your warranty, will it not?

Also there are reported problems with Limerain if you try and do a restore it freezes, again, I'm not sure if this is with all phones but I'd rather have the fully stable version!

I don't think they put markers in... just lots of talk about them doing it

Ah, so if you were to restore the phone to factory settings and took it in to Apple for a replacement, they wouldn't be able to tell, or refuse you a replacement?

Good news if so.

Sorry for a noob question but if i jailbreak my iphone...am i going to lose all my data and apps already on the device??...or do they still stay on there even after jb'ing the phone??.

Just wanted to know if i need to back up my iphone then jailbreak then restore my backup??

sooner or later apple are going to patch everything.. and people are going to finally have to come to the realisation of apple's software. No more jailbreak to get the features that apple should have programmed in

Then people would make the smart move and switch to droid

Not really =\

Just look at the PSP community for evidence where jailbreaking has worked really well and has never been fully patched

It's near impossible to patch everything, just look at every OS out there, the creators are always patching them because new holes are found all of the time. Take XP, it's been around for nearly 10 years and they are still patching holes.

Android is the windows of the mobile world imo, not the first, not the best, but the most accessible to hardware manufacturers around the world.

i really am only interested in an unlock for the new baseband that has come out. Any news on when these can be unlocked? Everything only talks about Jailbreaking.
