German Grand Prix 2010, Hockenheimring Circuit - Race 11/19

I remember quite a lot of complaints about Hamilton's aggressive driving in the first couple of years of his career. I was surprised at the time because I've seen most of the field do worse. Especially those who at one time or another have been involved in a tight battle for the WDC.

Is there any known reason for a lot of the paddock not liking him?

Of note, is that Button has managed to outqualify his team-mate, on a dry track.

Why is it noteworthy that the reigning champion qualified above his team-mate?

The above shows firstly that the current set of F1 drivers hold Button in as a high a regard as Hamilton...which surprises me.

LOL. Ah well, at least you're on form this weekend.

Yep. Because he is super fast (arguably the fastest), super aggressive and overtakes more than any other driver in F1.

As a driver/competitor, if someone is making you look bad, you surprisingly begin to develop a dislike for them. Funny that.

Because over the last few races, in the dry, Button has been unable to acheive this feat. It is therefore - note-worthy.

...and being reigning world champion means nothing when it comes to qualifying speed. He is up against Hamilton who is aruably the fastest driver in F1 - even Alonso found Hamilton a handful, who was a double World Champ at the time.

Prost won more titles than Senna, yet we all know that Senna was the best qualifier...probably of all time.

Actually I remember now that Hamilton couldn't be bothered with the GPDA at first. That probably didn't win him many friends amongst the drivers.

It was probably a combination of things that lead to him being disliked rather than one particular event.

But merr, I guess I've walked into a long-standing feud, so I'll dash.

JRS is a getting a little antsy because I believe Hamilton will finish this year ahead of Button, but JRS believes the opposite. He was fine while Button was ahead, but now that Hamilton is gradually opening up a gap...JRS is getting a little bitter.

Heh :D

Long way to go yet this season sunama. And if Hamilton beats Button....so what, my prediction post was wrong. I believe I'll get over the shame and humiliation of such an event!

I'm even more glad that another of my predictions for this season (that McLaren would royally stuff up the relationship between their two drivers) has proven to be completely wrong and that it's RBR who appear to have set themselves up a little inter-garage warzone.

What is making me a little antsy is Ferrari's form. They seem to be on it here, but I do wish they'd gotten on with it earlier in the year to take some points off RBR.

And I'd hoped to see one of the new teams (well....Lotus) get a point by now.

And I really wish Massa and Schumacher could cope with these tyres a bit better and get on terms with their respective team-mates.

Think that's it.

***edit***

I know I'm usually one of the first to say 'open up the rulebook'....but can we please get engine cover fins banned for aesthetic reasons? Please?

So do we think Schumi will ever get an 8th world title? Not a chance imo I don't think he's now good enough or will ever have a car good enough to win it again.

Brawn had very limited resources for their 2010 car, so fully expect them to be on the pace in 2011 with the Merc money this year.

One swallow....

Ferrari have made upgrades that work, Mclaren haven't. The point still stands over the season to suggest the ferrari has been as fast as the mclaren is barking.

Whether it continues to be faster from this point onwards is a different story.

I fancy Alonso today if he stays out of trouble purely because Red Bulls rumoured qually system advantage only gave them 2 thousanths over Alonso.

As long as vettel ends up in the gravel I'm happy.

.

don't forget he's had it easy as well, sponsored by mclaren for a long long time and straight into a competitive car.

As well as mistakes like ignoring traffic lights and arguing with a established driver (alonso)
