German Grand Prix 2011, Nürburgring Circuit - Race 10/19

Denis stated in 2007 that he is in F1 to win...not to play happy families. Yet, despite this, he got rid of the best driver in F1. In footballing terms, this would be the equivalent of Guardiola getting rid of Lionel Messi, because he doesn't get on with him.

I'm assuming thats a football reference?

What if the player threatened to blackmail the team boss?

Sounds like Pirelli are taking these tyres towards dullness :( Hopefully the FIA will have words.

I don't blame them it was a stupid scenario in the first place. The other tyre companies must be laughing their backsides off. What a way to damage the perception of a brand.

They will tell the FIA where to stick it, besides having these tyres degrade as soon as someone pushes is equally as boring as tyres that will go the distance.

Bring back a tyre war.

Dedregation doesn't matter. I don't really care what that is. What they need is a balance between hard and soft compound. So that 1 extra pitstop for soft more or less strips the time out.
But this requires the stupid two compound usage removing.

2 stops for soft or
1 maybe zero stops for hard.
End total time pretty much identical.

It does to Pirelli when their competing brands have started using it against them in advertising campaigns.

I wasn't talking about that, I'm talking about in race.
Amount of dedregation makes no difference. Be it high or low. What matters is the balance between different compounds. But the use two compound rule kills 95% of tyre strategy regardless of that balance.

Hamilton can beat Button without a problem most of the time :p

On a dry track...yes (most of the time).
On a wet track...no (most of the time).

Button is a not a chump, in the same way that Heikki was. Heikki was at McLaren for 1 reason - to ensure Hamilton doesn't get beat and to ensure Hamilton looks good.

Heikki is now at a team which is basically at the back of the grid...and for good reason.

You cannot compare Button/Alonso with Heikki.

Has this been done?
Are there any examples of online adverts with degradation being used again Pirelli?

They mentioned it on the coverage earlier, one of the other Italian manufacturers have been using it in their adverts which has prompted Pirelli into making tyres that will last longer (The primes here will do 100 laps so they say)

pirelli shouldnt let it bother them, they designed a tire to be exactly like what everyone wanted.

its bad that they are going more and more like bridgestones, we will be back to follow the leader before you know it.

Then perhaps they'll sort out the real problem. Can't believe that the 2014 rules aren't restricting aero more than they are. We need more mechanical grip and less aero.
