German Grand Prix 2011, Nürburgring Circuit - Race 10/19

How many times has he stuck slicks on earlier than anyone else and gone on to win the race, genuine question.

I know he did that one race in a mclaren but that was purely down to having no cards left to play. I didn't see that as balls tbh, more a last throw of the dice that paid off nicely.

Drivers at the front never do take those kind of gambles, they don't have to. They wait a lap or so and see what the lap times come in as. :)

That was last year and it won him his first McLaren race I think?

Buemi has lost his qualifying time due to irregularities with his fuel.

Odd to only affect one car. Can only imagine it was accidental. The tolerances for fuel are tiny.

Where has all this "Button is a wet weather god" stuff come from all of a sudden? All he has shown is one decent wet drive?

Last season and a half, he's won a lot of wet races.
And he was always good before that in the wet.

I just wish mclaren an him would sit down and go through so much boring data it would put a sea gull to sleep and find out what makes him slow at 80% of qualifying and why the other 20% he is on form. It must be a certain set up feature and it must be in the data somewhere. So ******** find it.

Answers like this I don't mind one bit, Fair do's :)

He not just too smooth for the cooling conditions yesterday? Lewis really attacked the track (was over steering all over early on) Getting a lot of movement and id imagine heat into the tyres.

he might well be, I suggested it in an earlier post. If it is the case why isn't his engineer looking at the data and telling him over the radio he needs to attack harder on out lap.

Jenson has almost always been the one with the Balls to stick Slick tyres on during varying conditions, that qualifys him as the rain master!

People do tend to harp on about it too much though :o

but he hasnt been the fastest on wet tyres or slicks on a damp track.

generally hes been in a position where he has much to gain and very little to lose from switching to slicks at what might be to early

This I don't understand. The McLaren must have some mechanical grip as Lewis was mighty in the slow first sector. What could cause Buttons car to lose that grip so much? Surely it's got to be heat in the tyres or the like

Well if the conditions are changing button should b-able to fight for a decent place.

Right I'm off to the pub to watch it. Hope it has sound, bit nervous that it will be overshadowed by the cricket. The pubs showing both.
