German Grand Prix 2011, Nürburgring Circuit - Race 10/19

Yeah, I'm surprised that nothing (at least nothing that has been reported on) has been done about that. I'd have thought the FIA would have at least looked at it. Must be a negligible amount of flex. I wouldn't think it was deliberate, especially given the camera position, but then you never know.

Absolutely no doubt, even if it had been Webber's fault.

Then again, I am sure most other drivers would have been penalised in a similar situation - the FIA have been far too strict recently.

This.

The issue is not the overtake, the issue is the stewards handing out penalties to much.

Hamilton would have got a penalty because the stewards are giving out penalties for every piece of contact, not because he did anything particularly wrong.

Its a dangerous road we are going down.
 
Unfortunately, times have changed and we are now at a stage in F1, as you said, any contact is getting investigated and possibly penalised.

The worrying thing is that the Stewards are getting progressively stricter, so it is quite possible that in 5 years time, we may be at a stage where drivers will get punished, even if there is no contact.

Regardless of whose fault it was neither driver is 'in the title race' atm, if Hamilton hadn't made his 'hot headed' mistakes he would be a lot closer to Vettel now, if Button hadn't had misfortune he would be basically where Hamilton is now (ie. not really in contention), both Hamilton & Alonso would have in all likelihood finished ahead of Button in Canada if he hadn't retired them both.

Hamilton needs a lot more performances like Germany to have any chance of the title, so does Button... (errrm).

Points aside Button still has never looked like winning the title for McLaren unlike Hamilton last season who threw his chances away, if you're so confident of Button winning this season fill your boots he is a 100/1 outsider at the bookies.
