Once upon a time, I would have been gutted to miss the first ~55mins of the race, after being held up at the in-laws. But not today, sounds another dull one.

Three free weekends and then the race I always look forward to, good old Spa!
 
Great race pace from Dan Ric would love to see him in a Merc a long with Ham. Things might be actually exciting
 
8th place. not a bad in that car. beat alonso (the best driver in F1) as well so not a bad afternoon for JB. Also beating williams and an FI and both Torro Rossos.... McLaren have improved a lot over the last few months. Looking forward to the big upgrade for Spa. Might have to go Spa again. Best race track in the world.

Still has 2 combustion engines, 1 energy store, 1 control electronics and 2 MGU-K to use.

But will need to take an engine penalty if he needs a new Turbo or MGU-H. So may as well take 2 complete engine units, push him to the back of the grid and then has 2 complete good units for the rest of the season.

Sounds like Toto wants him to only take 1, but either way it seems certain there will be a strategic penalty somewhere.
 
See if Nico keeps pedaling the "I was on full lock" line in the paddock interviews or will someone at Merc have a word and give him the new script :p

This is taken from Lewis in May:

Engine penalties kick in when the sixth component of one of six items - internal combustion engine, turbocharger, MGU-H, MGU-K, control electronics and energy store - is used.

Hamilton is already up to his third turbocharger and MGU-H with 17 races remaining.

"I'm running out of engines so that's on my mind," he said.

"It's not that it's hurting, it's just... it's not great.

What's pretty key is that we understand what it is, more so than before, and try and be careful in how we pick out all the engines because obviously I have only three for the rest of the year.

"So I'm going to have another penalty at some point, but I'll do the best job I can."
