GET IN THERE 42.5 mpg in a LCR

A 1992 Rover 220 Turbo is quoted at 45.6mpg for Extra Urban. At constant speeds a turbo is much economical than a NA engine

I can't wait til someone starts a "GET IN THERE *insert random amount* mpg in a Mondeo/BMW" thread and its full of praise :)

On a side note the turbo is only spooled when accelerating, during motorway cruising conditions unless you put your foot down the turbo isn't spooled / producing boost.

Quite. Else there seems little point in using a small turbocharged 4pot for efficiency really

Easily huh?

Want a go?

Eh? Want a go at what exactly? Driving an LCR to achieve the best possible MPG - no thanks it might sludge up on me. Dont tell me you have got upset at another one of my posts.

Downsizing is the short-term future for gasoline engines. The 1.8T is a good example of an early effort, relatively high compression with a turbo added for performance when needed and efficiency via reduction of pumping losses under part throttle conditions.
