Getting a PSP tomorrow.. But what games?

It hasn't, us people with experience just don't want you to end up regretting it thats all.
Just because you never learnt to use the video aspect well doesn't mean it isn't a good play back. Use Video PSP9 and use the max settings to convert any video and just stick it on the memory. then let the psp fill the screen, you will hardly notice the difference from that and a UMD. The whole thing opened up for me when i got a 1Gb card for the PSP

Lol Ive been using it before it was even out in this country, the video only plays back at half the screen res nothing can change that, it isn't as good as a umd by far and encoding at max settings is just wasting space when anything above 1Mbps doesn't make a difference.

You could always wait till Friday and get a PSP with the new Syphon Filter game, which by all accounts is supposed to be the game that defines the console.

I shall be pre-ordering it today, looks really good.

Oh and there is a new Tekken game coming out which is supposed to be excellent.

To be honest i'm getting a bit bored of the PSP bashing, every time theres a thread like this it comes along.

Personally i have both, and whilst i play the DS more i hardly ever play it on the move, particularly games like nintendogs and phoenix wright, which you need to yell at the screen, and trauma centre where a shaky train doesn't help.

Hence my PSP gets a lot of game time with everybody's golf, virtua tennis, twisted metal and locoroco.

Its not a bad machine by any accounts, although i would say only buy it if there are some games you particularly want, not having a PS2 made it good for me as i'd never played their older brethren.

Hopefully sony will release their downloadable games thing they've been harping on about and get a decent version of FF7 released, then the machine will have a new lease of life.

Wait for the new tekken game... My mate has the jap import... all i can say really is WOW!!! Its incredible for a handheld console...

That said it still needs a Resident Evil game.... ;) I would love outbreak with multiplayer...

Field Commander - Excellent

GTA Liberty City - Excellent

Football Manager - Excellent

Tales of eternia - aint bad

I always said I wouldnt buy a psp (good thing the missus bought me one!) - I have a DS too but I do find that each console plays different games better. Pro evo, footy manager, gta - couldnt be possible on ds. By the same regard tho, the ds has its own iconic games.

The psp doesnt deserve a lot of its bad praise, it just doesnt have the same numebr of must buy games yet....

Field Commander? is that the turn by turn game? i dont think i understand the point of this.. dose it not make the game play slow? or is it like C&C?

EDIT: whats the news on GT4 mobile? is thgis going to be good or a cut down game?

cheers

I wont regret it because its cheap and a bit or fun... just want a few game to kill a hour or so every now and then...

but people are suggesting you will because it won't serve this puspose as well as the DS will.
Why are you adamant about getting a PSP over a DS, even against most peoples advice?

The fact that you do not know what games to get to start your collection is not a good sign. I would never buy a console unless there were a few titles that i really wanted to play from the start. Advice on good games is for after you have explored your must have's and want to try something new and maybe different.

Half the screen res? Then you are doing something wrong and i stick with my assumtion that you don't know how to encode properly. And i have spent a long time expermenting with encoding software and there is barely any difference between max settings and UMD

Whats is it with people in this thread... if you must know i want the PSP not just because it can play games its other uses eg MP3 player, video player, wifi and what ever else you can do with it...

I DONT WANT A DS.....

as for not knowing what games i want is a total joke.. in my first thread i suggested a few title and wanted to know the opinions of some owners who might have these games.. Simple question realy..

If i wanted a DS i would have got one but i dont so i would like to ask the people who still have the first question in mind what they think of the games in the opening post and any others i may have over looked...

Sorry if this sounds nasty but if i wanted to know what was a better handheld i would have made a thread about that... And in my eyes the PSP is a better handheld for me..

Well said. :)

PSP games that have kept me busy since Christmas (it gets used all the time):-

Burnout Legends
- Great for pick up and play, just play a single race here and there)
Everybody Golf - One of the best Golf games I've played, but avoid if you don't like golf games
GTA - Really impressed by what they fitted into this version but prefer playing it on the PC rather than a handheld
Loco Roco - Crazy game that’s completely different and addictive
Megaman Powered Up - Old school type platformer with upto date graphics, enjoyed it a lot
NFS Most wanted - Another racer which I enjoyed playing, start to finish
SSX On Tour - Impressive port of this and plays well on the PSP for short blasts
Worms Open Warfare - Worms at it's best and completely addictive, time flys by playing this.

Also got to play Tekken at the weekend and was blown away how much they have managed to fit into the PSP version.

The only PSP games I've liked are Everybody's Golf and Daxter.
It all seems very narrow minded.

Personally the GP2X is better than the lot.

Just out of interest and not trying to start a which is best arguement but why do you say that? I thought the appeal of the GP2X was that you could run all sorts of home written code, which can also be done with the PSP.

GSXRMovistar thats what i needed to know.. simple advice..

I think i will be getting GTA, Worms, loco roco and maybee some more.. i will see when i get there..

Anyone else got some help full advice?

Cheers
