getting scammed

If you live that close then deliver it yourself then you can be sure there wil be no scam! Or reply to him that you have work in the area next week so we deliver the item has it's cheaper then sending it by post and see what his reply is

email sounds legit, also their the one in more risky surely? they've sent him the cash via pay pal and not via ebay, i thought its normally more risky for the purchaser to do it that way?

Actually delivering in person is a terrible idea. You ONLY do it when the person pays in cash.

Otherwise you have no proof it was delivered. Simple, unclaimed goods claim, and you are ****ed.

sorry, while I am not syaing it isn't a scam, what do folks find fishy ?

The problem, is that noob sellers of high value items are targeted. While there is nothing fishy as such, the probability of being targeted is much higher. Especially when you consider he naively offered recorded delivery for a £360 item and that the buyer is a new account. In addition, auctions are rarely ones scammers go after because they have to wait ages. Always use buy-it-now if available.

Its a high risk transaction if there was one. Only thing missing is a foreign buyer.

This person has sent me two 1 line emails regarding the sale. Which I find strange for the money involved.

Doesn't seem strange really? I've bought a fair amount of things that are pretty valuable and not said anything to the seller, you just assume that they will put it in the post :p

Yea I just thought of that unless you get a picture with him holdin the parcel:). For the price of £6 that at all bad sd could look at courier like ups as the have to sign for it and you can see on website tracking who and address of signature

Close mate. 30 mins - 45 mins depending on traffic

I was going to say its back in my home town. But your about as close as I am atm so :P If it does go wrong, its not starship mileage to go knock a door though :)

I was not saying deliver it in person. Get protection / special deliv / courier.

Special Delivery > All couriers (who also tend to be more expensive).

Royal Mail deliver by 1am for next day delivery. They automatically offer £500 insurance, unlike couriers where you have to add on top and can deliver at 5pm sometimes. Royal Mail depots are usually close by if you miss the delivery as well.

Special Delivery has online tracking and signature as you'd expect. Their online tracking system is very easy to use, and even the worst customer you come across on ebay should be able to use it.

I have been involved in using ups and dpd next day delivery service and it's been brilliant!I guess you could argue there is slot less hassale involved as you need to set up accounts.

Do not send it via recorded delivery.

Special Delivery only. Even if you listed recorded delivery, fork out for special delivery. Also sign into your paypal account (type the address yourself) and then for the transaction look at what I've highlighted in yellow:

ebayexample.png

If it says eligible, the you have the protection below. Obviously, it should also say confirmed in green.

Read the terms, and follow them to the letter.

It says partially eligible in the yellow box.

Shall I bite the bullet and send it special delivery royal mail? Having taken pictures etc?

Is it a confirmed address? Look under the address. If not, do not send. Instead ask the buyer to get his/her address confirmed on paypal.

Also, would be helpful if you click on it and find out what it means by partially eligible.

Partially eligible means you are not protected against unauthorised payments, i.e. stolen credit card or account.

Interesting though, because it says

Items sold on eBay will be marked eligible even if the shipping address is marked unconfirmed. Generally, items sold on websites other than eBay will be marked eligible if the shipping address is marked confirmed and partially eligible (that is, eligible for Item Not Received only) if the shipping address is marked unconfirmed.

So it shouldn't be saying partially eligible.

If the buyer has won the item on ebay and hasn't paid via ebay. Refund them, and ask them to pay through ebay.

It is a comfirmed address.

So if its a stolen card I am SOL lol.

I still think theres something dodgy here.
