"Ghost" Picture

I'd put it down to someone being in the shot when you took it or as above, a possible corrupt image where the layer of one went onto another. I have never heard of this happening though.

Woah if you sharpen the images a bit and apply some police filters it counteracts the cloaking and you see the true form!

For one, why can a ghost not be wearing modern clothing? Surely people have died recently? Why just the other day, I read in the paper, that a young woman had died.

And I don't see how so many people can be oh so very headstrong about what it is. As if they knew. As if they were there, lol.

Assumptions aren't truth.

No, but if you know anything about photography you'd know that half a second is a long time to have a shutter open, and when a flash fires (on top of your long exposure) it goes some way to 'freezing' what's in-front of the camera. Ergo our ghostly apparition is more likely to be someone who was walking quickly through the frame than the actual long awaited final and absolute proof that ghosts do exist.

P.S The data was taken from the .exif embedded in the .jpeg file. Fortunately you no longer have to 'be there' to appreciate the settings.

Not to mention, if it was a church just to visit around, hence why you were taking pictures... anyone who was likely to walk across the front of the altar, in front of everyone would probably walk by pretty quickly.

A ghost could be wearing modern clothing, assuming they exist. I would be willing to bet people have died recently, probably within a few miles of that location even. However the attire rather narrows down what time period the ghost is likely to be from, most ghost sightings involve the ghosts wearing costumes from centuries past so it immediately stands out as something unusual. I am of course discounting the possibility that ghosts keep up with the fashions of the times and strictly speaking I shouldn't, why wouldn't they choose to dress in the mode of the present day?

Certainly, assumptions aren't necessarily correct but if we look at likelihoods it would seem much more unlikely that a ghost decided to present itself there than a slow shutter speed allowed someone to walk across the screen and appear half-caught in the picture. This would be held out by the settings that bennah found in the exif, it isn't proof but it does mean that jumping to the conclusion that it must be a ghost isn't necessarily correct either.

Cameras are a set of mirrors and lenses. They are not a window to another dimension.

Very clever, did you think you'd get lots of "+1" comments and happy smilies agreeing with you? A window is a portal you can see through or enter into. A camera is neither of these, but it can record things in a fraction of a second that move at speeds or at frequencies that that the human eye can't always notice.

Yes, that's exactly what i wanted. C'mon, you're breaking my heart here. Just one +1... pleeeeeaaasssseee??

A window is something you look through. A door is something you enter through. If i was referring to a door, i'd have written "door".

This camera recorded at 1/2 a second. Hardly a fraction. Plenty of time to see with the naked eye exactly what has happened here.

"There was no one there" makes for a far more interesting story than "heh, look at that girl's blurry head".

Edit: before anyone tries to be hilarious... i'm aware that "1/2" is a fraction. Obviously given the context (too fast for the naked eye) the fractions being referred to are a lot less than 1/2 of a second.

Blame most Hunted!!!! With that wee bird off Blue Peter although she’s happy enough with he two Aston Martins on her drive, Range Rover Sport and a London Taxi. I believe she’s genuinely into ghosts but her creepy Husband is more like a used car sales man you’d never trust………..

The art of making something out of nothing then selling it……………………
