Ghostbusters: Afterlife

Yeah some packs will cost £1500 or more.

I was looking at an aluminium wand, and that alone was £1100 , just the bare wand with no electronics, though it was assembled and had a pop mech in it. Was looking at the resin and 3d printed versions the issue with the resin ones seems to be the thickness of it takes away space for electronics. I bought a 3d printer over a year ago and have yet to take it out of its box, plenty of files for making wands as well knocking about.

Still mulling it over, initially I wanted to build an all in one wand with light and sound, like the hasbro spengler wand but better. Issue is I've no clue about electronics. :p

ed: near sure i said more or less the same thing a few pages back :p

I said above that I have reservations about this film but **** me was this video a bunch of annoying laboured whining. They are man babying about the man babying. Man baby ception?

Some of what theyre saying makes sense:
like how easy it would be for Egon to prove the existence of the temple (smart phone, take pic, send to all). Other stuff like moaning about the terror dogs and gozer and the explosion of souls leaving the portal looking the same as the first movie, just came off as moaning for the sake of it. If they were to change how gozer is able to appear then it would discredit what was set up in the first movie, and as for the souls looking like the containment unit explosion, well this was esentially the same thing. A large amount of ghosts breaking out en masse.

Behind the scenes and B-Roll from the media pack.

First ive seen a gb movie where the wands actually make the firing sound on set, in the previous ones it was just the tip of the wand had a bulb to let the animators know when to add the beam. And the ecto 1 jump being practiced with a truck for reference was a bit surprising, expected that to be fully cg but it looks like it was done with the truck and recorded then ecto was overlayed in post.

I know I posted this video, but I didn't watch it because of spoilers (and still haven't watched it)

But I have finally seen the movie...and I wasn't too impressed.

What struck me most is that people absolutely hated Ray in Star Wars for being a "Mary Sue" but the girl in this was a textbook Mary Sue, surely?

Yes she's smart, and she had help from
the ghost of her Grandad
, but there was more to it than just that. She was able to fix anything, easily use the cars proton pack and devise a plan and it wasn't just her.

Finn Wolfhart was an amazing mechanic, even though he's a city boy. No backstory as to why he would be able to get an old car running (and yes I did notice that he had some supernatural help as well)

Oh and towards the end, my wife burst out laughing because
She said it looked like the original Ghost Busters were masturbating when they were holding their proton packs, but the device was out of frame so it was just three old men jiggling around

And it's usually me with the filthy mind.

I think people will re-watch this a bit later and realise it's not very good. A bit like how episode VII was re-assessed.

I don't see her as a Mary Sue at all. She is very intelligent just like her
Grandfather
Trevor has probably had a lot of time as a 15 Yr old to mess with cars so maybe self taught.

So red eyes were a thing for that character on set. Having seen that and the look in the final movie i prefer the look they went with in the movie, the black just lacked any emotion at all and looked pure evil.

I don't think so. Spoilers ahoy!

Most of the kit was already working and didn't need repairing. Her brother fixed the car. Podcast worked the drone car. Was it not Podcast who released the demon in the secure store in the police station so they could get in? And she got arrested. Was it not the brother who - of his own initiative - pointed his proton blaster at the capacitor thus powering up all the ghost traps? And when they visit the mountain she distracts Xuul but it's someone else who fixes the trap.

She did not go through the traditional hero's journey in that she had no significant setback. But then she's supposed to be only 12, unlike Rey who's an adult.

Wow I loved it maybe an 8/10 as a movie 10/10 as a Ghostbusters sequel. I had tears in my eyes several times during the movie.
I'm glad the originals cast were only in it for 5 minutes and they arrived we saw them all together and they were supportive.
The kids did a great job and the plot whilst a bit thin took things along nicely it wasn't too exposition heavy.

If more sequels treated their source material with such reverence we wouldn't be seeing finely polished beuatifully made turds like the SW sequel trilogy.

I think having the original directors son writing and directing really helped. He was a boy on the set of the originals and even cameoed in the second film. So he has just as much love for the cast and characters as we do. He also wanted to do a good job and make his dad proud of this film. His dad was even on set everyday so could give advice or suggestions. A true family film in more than one sense.

Funny thing is a lot of the actual hardcore gb fans are bitching incessently about the fan service and reverence to the original movie. Even something as innocuous as Winston saying "i love that sound" when they power their packs up is being seen by some as "unnecessary fan service". In short, some people really have too much time on their hands.

The hard-core fans on all the forums and FB groups I'm a member of are certainly not batching about fan service at all. Most people love the film.
