Ghostbusters: Afterlife

To me there’s two films and the brilliant video game. Absolutely tons of lore on Ivo in that and it was voiced by the original cast.

Bill Murray refused to record his lines with the cast, and buggered off before his lines were complete. Oddball, though the game was good and told a good story, most people regarded that as GB3 via the cut scenes.

So they rebuilt 1a as 1, rather than 'un-do' the restoration on 1 to make look her like a barnfind?

I'm more than cool with 1a finally getting some attention. It always saddened me how Sony left her to rot. But why not rebuild her as 1a? Especially since this film is supposed to follow GB2 in continuity.

1A always looked more than a bit over the top, not really sure what the reason is for going back to the original design. Probably to connect the movie more with the first movie which was more of a hit. Doesn't make a lot of sense in continuity terms that the car in the last movie has suddenly reverted to the 1984 version.

Never really liked the 1A version, just seemed like they went totally overboard with slapping as many lights on it as possible.

Ironically, the car broke down just after this was filmed, the refurb messed with the red propello ray light and the front round blue lights, the propello ray ended up just being a static red light and the front and back round blue lights now are just static and don't pulse on and off.

Well I watched the trailer and thought it looked brilliant. Made me want to know more. Not sure whether I like Ant Man in it but I thought it was good that none of the original cast appear in the trailer it would be better if this was a "reveal" in the actual movie it would give it much more impact as I heard there were a few of the original cast returning. It didnt look that way but I reckon Slimer might be on the good guys (kids) side this movie.

It's been confirmed most of the main cast are appearing including Sigourney Weaver. Rick Moranis is the only one there's a question mark about.

The mini Stay Puft was first done about 3 decades ago in the real ghostbusters comic series (1989 to be exact). Already seen some people saying this is an attempt at a Baby Yoda type cutesy character but it's origins massively predate that.

That clip doesn't especially do it for me, tbh. I don't recall GB being particularly cutesy - more comically grotesque. But I still have high hopes for the movie.

A small stay puft is always gonna have a bit of a cute factor, but that's sort of offset by what they're doing to each other which is a bit disturbing on a few levels.

Swanned in this thread with a lot to say about the franchise.... and I’d already said it many months ago. Huh!

I guess they are going with the ‘throw nostalgia at people’ route with the mini-staypuffs... not my bag personally, I would rather something different but it’s probably (hopefully) only a fleeting part of the film.

You could say nostalgia but the movie seems to be taking some cues from the 2009 game which a lot of people consider the true third movie (before this was announced at least), that also had Gozer in it. The trailer throws out some Gozer elements with the shandor mine and the terror dogs so it seems fitting that stay puft should also be in there somewhere as that was Gozers last avatar on earth (supposedly can only appear as that avatar once its been chosen). I would imagine somewhere along the line the mini pufts combine to make the larger Stay Puft.

It's up in the air if Gozer is the bad guy or it's something else that's a bigger threat with Gozer being relegated to minion status.

Unless this has been filmed recently just as a pure advert/trailer and isn't part of the final film?

I think it is a part of the movie, the mini pufts were known about for a while with a few leaks months back. There's also a cereal with them as characters on it, with the movie being pushed back because of covid some things got released anyway like the spengler wand and a few other odds and ends.

Looking great :D even has very similar visual effects to when the containment unit was opened in the original movie and the purple streaks of ghosts escaping happened.

Looks like a statue of gozer based on the actress that played the part in the original at 1:40 as well.
