Hi, just seen the new bios on gigabyte's web page, not sure if its been posted yet...

New official BIOS for DS4 at:
http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/...rboard&ProductID=2288&ProductName=GA-965P-DS4
so dose this fix all memory problems? anyone tryed it with memory that didnt work with the f2 bios?
and can anyone show me how to update to f3 bios, i have never updated a bios :o
i realy hope this dose fix everything, the ds4 would be a great board if i didnt have memory problems.

Hi, They are all F3 version (DS3,DS4,DQ6) on the gigabyte site, not F3B/F3A/Beta flavours. I would go with this F3 version on the Gigabyte site (Its a tad slow at the mo)

Im running F3 at the moment, havent been looking for any difference yet.

Im sure people will start posting there findings soon :D

UPDATE******

I have just discovered what the problem was in regards not been able to overclock 1 mhz with the G.Skill pc6400 nr ram....If you enable the Cpu Host clock and set the frequency to 266mhz(manually),then the ram wont boot at "266mhz" and just resets back to auto settings this involves setting the ram divider to 2: making the ram run1:1!!!but if you set thecpu host clock frequency to 333mhz and make the ram run 1:1 it boots no problem and doesnt reset at all!!..I have just tried this now with the f3d bios and i am now able to overclock so the pc6400g.skill nr ram cannot boot up at all manually at 266mhz or below meaning you have to set the ram to 2: and manually set the cpu host clock to 333mhz and it works!!..Hope this helps others.

I've got Conroe E6600 with Gskill PC26400 HZ in a DS3 and it works, I think this thread has blown the problem way out of proportion.

Yeah, but i was having trouble wih G.Skill nr not booting manually at 266mhz at all. When i did it the p.c would just reboot greying out the cpu host clock control and i know a few people have had the problem i was experiencing .But now i have discovered the G.Skill nr wont boot at 266mhz at all which has been 5 days of frustration discovering this anyway now priming at long last 375x8=3ghz;)

i now have two ds4 boards because the one i took back was found not to be faulty, just the usual ram compatibility problem. i've got the second one i bought working now but am a little peterbed. might have to put the spare on an auction sight!!!
my point is if you persevere the ds4 will work and work well, i couldn't be happier with my system now, just don't try to take the board back if it doesn't work!!! lol

Or buy where you can return it without problems, some retailers do that.

Hmm, when I was picking all the parts @newegg. I noticed all gigabyte P965 boards said Corsair recommend for Max Performance... That's why I choose a corsair kit.

Has anybody got other problems with this board. Exept for booting? Like overclocking, temps, etc.. ? cons/pros?
Just another thought..... I have found out that the DS3, DS4 & DQ6 have a std bios VDIMM setting of 1.8v, so any ram much higher than that figure will not work......
My XMS2 is 2.1v, so that might explain my problem.....

Now knowing all this, OcUK could save all their customers a lot of hastle if they posted information like this on the website, and possibly even linked the motherboards to their compatible ram..... the Geil for example is 1.9-2.2v so should be fine with these boards, my XMS2 @ 2.1v however is not....

Unfortunately sometimes to up the voltage, you need RAM thats compatiable to boot up and change the VDIMM, for those without that they'll never be able to POST.

I have a Corsair DDR2 kit of 2 x 1GB 800/6400 and it runs with no problem in my DS4. It was a case of plug in and go.
Let me guess, cas5 latencies.....

I'd be very suprised if you are running the C4 or the C3 model!

You're entirely correct. I'd be surprised if I was running the C4 or C3 model as well given the substantial additional cost and comparatively little real world performance benefit!

I'm running it along with an E6600 and just plugged it all in and left it with the motherboard/ram default settings.

I'm not sure whats holding me back, the system will boot at 378*9 and prime forever but sometimes as I restart it beeps at me and resets... And memory will do 472 at 5.5.5.15 and pass memtest but system sometimes will not boot and acts up... increasing fsb and mhc voltage as high as possible and its not helping much...

So iv got my money back from my G.Skill NR.
could someone recomed me a 2gig kit that will 100% work with my ds4 for about £150
