i have the geil and was wondering on your overclock of the 6600 are limited by the chips ability to overclock or is it the fsb or ram as i was hoping to get 3ghz out of my 6300 on the DQ6
No to all, i'm just limited by temps at the moment the DS4 will go t0 500mhz Sys bus or possibly more. The Geil will do 1000mhz as well. Most of the E6600 chips should be capable of 3.6ghz but some will do more than 4ghz

Nice thread Monster, I haven't tried much with my E6400 on my DS, it's because of the heat issues I have. It seems the conroe IHS aren't straight on all chips. I've done some research and it seems I'm not the only one :( Anyway, at stock I idle around 50C and reaches 65+ on TAT stress. I have no idea what to do. I'll try getting a better cooler and more as5..

Also can any body recommand me overclock settings for a e6400? week27.

Hi easyrider.

what vcore are you using? = 1.55V
=1.52v benching only with deskfan.
does it suffer from droop? = 0.03V

any issues to speak of? = none .....but run @ 3.2ghz 7x460=3.220 1.39v for 24/7 until i get better cooling.

What memory settings are you guys using?
CAS/RAS stuff I mean.

I got the GeIL PC6400 2GB Kit, which is 4-4-4-12 but it does 5-6-6-18 according too CPU-Z.
Now I know I can manually adjust this, but there is more then the first four options. What do set there, apart from Auto?

Why DQ6 any particular reason..... The DS4 is known to clock well and is cheaper.... Got mine @ 3.415ghz atm, really just limited by temps. The DS4 will do 500mhz fsb or more!

1 ) DS6 has a 12 phase power design, 2) Comes quad core ready 3) Everything is Quad

One thing I think Gigabyte has not included is a option for cmos reloading like the lanparty's that would be useful, well its going to be a choice of DS4 or DQ6?

Quad core ready is a waste of time if you ask me, cos there will be much bigger and better mobo's around for quad core by the time it's released!

DQ6 has HD audio and got all that quad crap AND has a stupid carzy cool thing on the back which is why i bought it :p

Too bad the control panel of the audio sucks.
I need too be able too put the Bass down because the subwoofer is too low. My downstairs neighbours don't like heavy basses at 4 in the morning...
Also, the sound is very very loud!
I had too put the sound down too about 10% and put the sound levels in WoW almost too zero to able to open the sound knob on my logitech sound set. (yes, I know that was a crap sentence. Bit difficult to explain in detail).

Anyway, I put my Audigy 2 Value in, and the Vista RC1 drivers are fine for RC2 as well. And I can adjust the Bass levels, and the sound output is normal instead of very very loud.

Running Windows XP Pro again because Vista sucks at Direct X 9 graphics performance.
Using a 7900GTX and getting 20fps or less is crap compared too 60+fps under Windows XP Pro.
