Hi all, can anyone currently on Giganet let me know what your experience has been like with them from install to are you getting the speed advertised? I've been thinking about moving over to FTTP as it is now available in our area and with Virgin raising their prices I have found Giganet seems to offer better value.

The Openreach availability checker shows we can get 1000Mbps down and 200Mbps up, however checking on Giganet shows 300Mbps down and 50Mbps up. 3 months free and you get EERO Pro 6E router.

Will be looking to sign up in the next couple of days so if you have a referral code then send it over.

Thanks.

Are there still areas where Giganet use Zen backhaul, and Zen seem to have forgotten how to run a network that functions? I'd be wary of any provider using Zen links at this point. Perhaps it's worth asking the Giganet team if they are on-net in your area.

I’ve just switched as of today, and the installation to my house internally was fine, but sorting it out externally was a drawn out pain, mainly down to CityFibre though.

I paid for 900/900 and I’m currently getting ~400-600 / ~200-400 on a wired connection. Going to give it a day then will call them. It’s better when connecting my existing router/mesh than Eero too.
Latency ~ 6-8ms.

I hope there’s something they can do on their end, as it’s a little disappointing to be bobbing around their min guaranteed speed. Still cheaper than VM though and faster speeds.

I’ve been busy so can’t really see how stable it is in games etc.

Honestly I'm having a nightmare with Giganet at the moment - their customer service has been terrible.

I ordered FTTP in October, and I still haven't had it installed.

Cityfibre are partly to blame, or Kelly Communications, as they're repeatedly failing to install it, but Giganet haven't been at all helpful in finding a solution - that's if they even reply to me :(

October!!

That doesn't bode well, I'm about to switch from VM to Giganet. Is your order direct with CityFibre or Giganet?

According to the Giganet website I'd be a direct customers of Giganet and typical installation time of 10 days. Any way to check that I would in fact be direct with Giganet?

What's the hold up with your installation, if you know?

Order is with Giganet, installation is done by Cityfibre (or one of their contractors - in my case, Kelly Communications)

1st Problem - delay in setting up their infrastructure to cope with new customers. This took them until the beginning of this year, and they cancelled my order at one stage. Terrible communication throughout. One day I suddenly received a text from Cityfibre to say I had an engineer coming to install

2nd Problem - Cityfibre don't drill through wood. My entire property has wood cladding, so they've sent out multiple surveyors to look at options. At one point, they asked if I could drill my own hole (lol). They can't use the existing BT hole (understandable), but won't take it as proof that it's okay to drill through the wood.

Trying to work with them to come to a solution, but I think it will ultimately end in the order being cancelled.

So at what point do you become aware that it's actually CityFibre, in your case, and not actually Giganet?

Is there a way to establish this beforehand?

Regarding the infrastructure setup, was Giganet new to your area?

I ask, as when I check on Giganet website using my postcode it advises me I'm all good to go.

As for not drilling through wood, that is a strange thing to hold up an installation. I hope you get to resolve it soon.

Been with them for a few months. Instal was great - no issues at all. Speeds have been constant. I am using my oun mesh router connected directly to the ONT box. Tried their Eero router - not impressed at all. I was told to get the additional satellite for the Eero would be £7.50pm. I noticed that on Openreach, they no longer offer 500 speed - 300 seems to be the top one now. Their subsidiary, Coocko, offers 1gb speed at £55 I think.

I moved from VM as their connections were poor - at least one cut off of service once a week.

Out of interest which mesh router have are you using?

I'm also thinking of moving to Giganet, and like you @izzop I'm in Wiltshire ;) Must be fairly recently they've popped up here, as I checked before and they weren't available

Does anyone happen to know whether I can get a static IP on a domestic contract (can only find reference to static IPs on business contracts on their FAQs), and, if so, how much they charge?

I looked at switching to Giganet last time VM increased their prices, but never got around to it and just removed TV from my package and managed to get 250mb for £39 per month, not great, but was happy with that at the time.

Working away a lot, that then ended and it's finally crept up to £53.25 and now they want to increase that by a further £7. Needless to say, and currently being at home, I've made the move to switch with installation now confirmed for 31st March for 300mb @ £35 per month with nothing to pay for the first 3 months.

Not too far away from me @kosymodo I'm just down the road, a place popular with Russians and home to a 123m tall spire ;)
