in the context of asking to meet up, and you said you dont know what you would be up to, and you said "maybe".

i ask this is cause i want to ask my lady friend out and surprise her and take her for a day out in london heh-heh

so, what does "maybe" normally mean when said by a girl? :(

hmm.

the situation isnt as simple as it is.

i give a brief backstory, basically there this girl who i used to work with. i met her friend get on quite well etc, talk most of the time, and then the girl i used to work with started getting all weird around me and basically poking fun at me for liking her friend.

ive asked her right at the begining before i asked for her friends number if it was okay that i be-friend her, she said yes, but she still acts weird and basically acts really immature.

the reason why i asked, is because at the moment the girl that i like is round the girl i used to work with house, when i phoned she sounded like she didnt really wanna talk in front of the girl i used to work with, or felt awkard about it, but when a few wkends back, we spoked on the phone for quite a long period of time and she was very chatty and bubbly. then she she quickly said "i dont think im doing anything but dont know yet, maybe".

i bet if i phoned her at the right time on her own she would be chatty and such, but i never know whens a good time to phone her

There are lots of maybes. Sometimes its a gentle let down, sometimes it's an easy out for a tricky question. Sometimes it's a coy maybe, which means yes but the maybe-ee is too shy to say yes outright. Sometimes it means maybe.

Take your pick. :)

Another no vote unfortunatly.

Take her best friend instead lol.

no, thats not a choice. i had a go at the girl i used to work with cause she stuck her nose into my business, where she had no right into making jokes and such at me about the whole situation. and shes 20 O_o

yea, thats pretty much the problem. theres just too many choices for just "maybe"

obviously i want it to be a yes . but theres 2 days left for an answer.

if shes shy, how do i get the answer out of her?!

edit: ive met up with her before, this isnt a first meeting up, so its not like we havent seen each other when we first met

It was a joke but it really is good advice.

Most women want what they can't have!

haha! :p

being a skeptic, ive told some of my friends about it, and they all say, that either the girl i used to work with is jelouse that im giving her friend all the attention and not her, or that she is all the above plus she likes me, thats why shes acting immature towards me ever since i met her friend.

but i wish i can say its true :o

Maybe actually means, "that would have been a yes if you'd asked me better".
I thought it was "that would have been a yes if you were less pathetic". My experience has taught me that.

Little did she know she wasn't much better. :D

you think? :p

all i said was "so i was wondering if you was doing anything on sat, thinking we could meet up, if youre not up to much?"

that was polite and formal i'd say? :p
