I thought it was "that would have been a yes if you were less pathetic". My experience has taught me that.

Little did she know she wasn't much better. :D

A little more experience would turn maybe into yes ;)

Or a no, so then you know she's not worth it, next!

There's a song with the lyrics "It seems to me that maybe, pretty much always means no". I agree with this.

seems like all signs points to noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

edit: why does it seem like theres more guys than girls answering the question? :p

Do they not use it the same way guys do?

I use maybe as "I really don't want to, but saying no will make you strop, and I'd rather have a few days of peace and have you be annoyed when I say 'no' just before the thing u asked about initally". If that makes sense ^_^

i just say "no" or "yes" in my books, thats what i do.

guys dont say "maybe" :p

Women don't really rely that much on verbal communication,
e.g:

Yes = Normally means No. But sometimes means Yes or Maybe.
No = Normally means Yes. Or sometimes means No or Maybe.
Maybe = Normally means No. Or sometimes means Yes or Maybe.

It depends on their context - judge each situation on its merits and go with your gut feeling. And you'll have a 33% chance of being right.

On a more positive note,
I have heard that "maybe" means "you have my attention, but try a tad harder..."

Well, I don't know what it's like for a long term relationship or wife, but certainly over the past few days I've realised that if they say "maybe" I can almost always get it into a "Yes" by giving them LESS attention. E.g. Just saying "OK Fine" in a completely calm voice with a straight face and actually TURNING AWAY. Try it and see ;) . I love David DeAngelo <3 .
