Glasgow Airport-under attack

I expect them to be from the UK, then stories to come out from relatives that they never expected anything like this and that they were normal family men, etc, etc.

What possible prevention could ID cards have given in this situation?

First hand footage of the incident has just came in.

are we being played like puppets? do the extremists want to see action taken against the average asian in an attempt to turn them into an extremist too?
!

Thats a good point,
It's also a new government so the jobs where probably rushed.
Also it's harder to make a bomb than people think.

these seem to be gas cylinders, petrol and nails.

The trouble is the petrol would have to burn for a prolonged time, before the bottles exploded. Which draws attention and increase the chance of failure.

Unless you burst the gas cylinders, it takes a while for the pressure to overcome the strength of the cylinder.

But I expect it's a rushed opportunistic job.

I can see how ID cards would have stopped this from happening. Assuming that the ID cards are in fact made from reinforced steel, 10ft tall and placed to create a giant fence on the borders of Britain so that all the little Mussies will have to camp on the beach once they've swam in from the sea - instead of wandering in to claim benefits or steal our jobs and the other things they do.
Examples of 'other things' being terrorism and changing our way of life.

We're English. That is what we do.

I'm going to start a white, Christian terrorist cell.

Bugger. The Irish got there first :(

I just think if this killed people then the forum wouldn't be joking about it.

It's gallows humour. None of us are taking this lightly and I'm sure most of us are rather annoyed

(angry smiley directed at the terrorists not your good self ;))

You are joking, right? How does a plastic card stop be packing my car full of petrol cans right this minute, driving to the centre of town and blowing myself up?
Haha. Yes. I can just imagine the police stopping a flaming car, dragging a burning man out of it and checking to see if he's got an ID card...

Last time I checked, you don't need any ID to go to the outside of an airport.

Which if he's a British citizen he will have anyway.

It is a shame that even though the government themselves have said that ID cards are not going to do much to prevent terrorism, many people are eager to believe that they would.

I am quite prepared now to accept tha fact that this is not the conspiracy I suggested with the recent London 'attacks'; some nutjob on fire is fairly conclusive that it isn't an inside job.

Round 'em all up and ship 'em all out!

Tee he he, I understand it in a way, I'm just thinking about what it would be like if the London devices and (if its a terrorist attack) in Glassgow did what they intended to do, it has the possibility to be worse than 9/11, I'm travelling to London tomorrow and just thinking "Jesus, this isn't a great time to travel", at the same time I think it's important to go about things in a normal manor.

But in a way all the BBC/SKY coverage (and all the activity on OCUK forums) is actually doing what the terrorist want.

Stick them on a isolated island full of gas canisters around them and destroy them all.

With that attitude lets just find a fruitcake and keep them hostage until we decide to behead them...

Anything they can do we can do better sort of attitude.

Its all abit sick in here tbh

TBH I don't think Osama is even a member here, or a fan - otherwise myself and Virii would be prime targets
I heard that he ordered a new 'Ultima' system recently, so that he can play Risk and C&C at full resolution. :p
