I thought the same, misunderstood to begin, then they get the big man to help out.

-edit looking again at the trailer, not so sure, the wording would suggest a single entity.

Think that would be pushing it though lol :p

If there was another monster in there it would probably be one of godzillas old insectoid foes.
 
I'm sure I recall reading about there being 2 other monsters in the film - both new creatures, probably as killing any fan favourites would cause the internet to explode. I have no source to give, just something sticks in the back of my mind about 2 new beast.
 
in the 70s/80s films wasn't Godzilla a "good guy" ?

haha i have to read up on my childhood memories...

It's Rodan!! In the trailer look into the distance over the Golden Gate Bridge, the part where the planes are falling out of the sky. Over the bridge you will see Rodan flying about but only briefly. Also at around 1:32 when the soldier points his gun up at the sky, it's Rodan doing a dive bomb.

I think there's also one more monster. The one chomping on the train is not Godzilla, the spikes on the back are not jagged like godzillas. They're more shark like. This film is going to be awesome!!!!!

I never spot anything like this when watching things. lol
I'll have to watch it again now and pay mroe attention.

Think I just get all excited and miss the details. :o

Looks like (2014) Godzillas tail to me.
 
We know from the merchandising there are two 'Mutos' (one flying, one multiple limbed) which are the Big G's adversaries in this film. Both are original creatures that aren't modelled directly on Rodan, King Ghidorah etc.

The trailer has a super massive pterodactyl/pterosaur monster flying around that looks just like Rodan.

Worst... original... creature... ever! :D

Maybe some of the plot comes from the OG Rodan film, with those large insects? Meh who cares as long as Godzilla battles a large pterosaur or two, atomic ray power would be a bonus!
 
I watched this trailer last night on an IMAX screen and it sent chills down my spine. I will be seeing this.

Also, was I the only one who enjoyed the Mathew Broderick version?
