Freespace 2 GOG

I never played Freespace 1 or 2 when they come out and have been wanting to play a space sim for a while. Is this game still worth playing, or has it dated badly? I also want to use my X52 flight stick if possible. Anything I should know about before purchasing?

Your asking whether to buy Freespace 2.........
One of the greatest space combat games ever made....
My all time favourite game....
Which you can get updated texture mods for.....

Why are you still reading this and not buying Freespace 2

:D;)

"DIVE DIVE DIVE PILOT"

fs/fs2 are epic games, used to love them back in the day (on an old 350mhz, 64mb ram machine :D)

really wish a 3rd was made, i'd be on it like sonic

Is it linear, combat mission after combat mission, or can I do some trading and mining?

Briefing > mission > briefing > mission

BUT it's fantastic, don't let that put you off. Not to get all e-snobbish but they really don't make them like this any more.

Volition the developer of FS1 & FS2 still existing (they make the Saints Row Series) have said they would be interested in a sequel but unfortunately they don't have the rights. They were swallowed into a black hole when Interplay (the then publisher) went under, I still cling on to the hope that they will buy the rights one day.

An alternative DeathCube if you don't have it already is Freelance, mostly narrative driven but much more open world than Freespace, you can be come a merchant buying low and selling high and not play the story at all and I believe there are several mods that you might find interesting.

I have been playing Freespace 2 for a while now, fully modded. I can't believe this was out in 99! The modders have done a great job with the visuals.

I might post some pics later :)
