After having 2 pairs of faulty 1000s I was in the same position and rather fed up. You really need to ask yourself if you can justify spending over £100 on a pair of headphones that are probably only marginally better than the NS1000s, for me there was nothing in it due to the amount of time I spend listening to music and I don't really buy much else. I ended up buying some Beyer DT770s which are in my opinion head and shoulders above the NS1000s, but also cost going on 3x the amount

They are built like a tank though, and well supported (Beyer sell replacement everythings for when they wear out too), don't require an amp although they do benefit from one, they are a fair bit bigger and don't have noise cancelling, however they do isolate a lot better to. Swings and round-a-bouts.
