Golf V5: thoughts?

at work today i parked next to a guy with a v5 4mo. i really do wonder what possess people to buy things like that.

v6 ought to be a fair bit quicker than the v5 though, which sort of makes the v5 a very odd choice
 
Because his post is pointless and just baiting the whole argument again.
He has the ability to read and will have read the few posts where I have said no one is buying a v5.
Trolling at his best.
 
Somebody obviously is buying a V5, hence this thread. It isn't the sort of car you idly ask for more information on unless you are thinking of purchasing one, or a friend is, or something.

'Anyone got more info on the new Veyron?'
'Anyone seen that new 599X?'

These are cars people will ask about purely out of love for cars.

'Anyone got more info on the 2001 VW Golf 2.3?'

This car is not. Nothing wrong with asking about a car like this but quit the illusion its purely out of curiosity.

I've already made an informative post justifying the reasons I consider these pointless, and explaining why. Like everyone else in this thread, this thread has me very confused.
 
Confused because you refuse to believe that I am not, nor is anyone I know buying one.
Why can people not ask for information on normal cars? Is there a rule against it?
As i have said many times, I asked here because this is a generic motors forum, not some single model forum.
I might as well have asked somewhere else and saved all the pointless posts where people make assumptions and offer no useful information at all.
 
you've still not exactly said what you want to know about this engine

Its got 5 cylinders, in a V shape, and burns fuel just like any other engine. Theres nothing remarkable about its engineering to tell you.

You've already been told its got low horsepower for its size, and it drinks more petrol than other cars you wouldnt expect. A comparison in the latter observation is very usefull. "It drank a lot.." the obvious answer to that is "how much is a lot?" so for this people are going to use comparisons.

If we were discussing the finer points of how toyota's hybrid synergy drive works i could understand your engineering inquisitiveness. But this is just another petrol engine with 5 cylinders instead of 4 or 6.
 
MrLOL, there have been plenty of posts that have fulfilled my need for info, im not expecting any more and have not asked for anymore so I don't understand your issue or why you, and others, feel so angry about his thread.

No way, never ever seen one but i'm going to assume they were never released in the UK? Then again its a private ad, could be badged up, i'm not saying it is but its not like its never happened before
