GOLF VR6 100k miles

Had a look at the pic of the purple one and it's definatly a highline, full leather, wooden gear knob and door lights, haven't got an interior shot of the black one but they've both got the same alloys.

As far as the Ford Zetec cambelt discussion goes - iv been in the car game for over 10 years now and im sure i remeber Ford along with vauxhall revising their cambelt change mileage to about 70k after a lot of failures - defo the Vauxhall ecotec was and still is prone to belt failiure. Granted I personally havent seen many zetec belt failiures.

Well you don't remember it that well, Ford have not reduced the interval.

Vauxhall have though, by quite some margin. I think the equivilent engine to the 2.0 Zetec has a frankly hilarious 40k mile cambelt interval.

Do they give a stiff ride then?

nope they make great cruisers, my bro's late 16v feels choppy and stiff by comparison, well compared to the vr6 golf I've driven anyway, not sure about the highline though. I'm sure its much the same.

nice wheels barry, are the bbs rs's? i was lusting after a set for my old rado vr6 but the 17" ones where rather hard to come by at the time.

omg will this boring cam belt discussion carry on for an eternity? lol ;)

Knackers to talking about cambelts. We are talking VR6 here. :D

The standard VR does wallow about a bit - it cruises very well though. I'd be putting decent coilovers or Koni TA /Eibach's on it, if I were you.

Hesky - Yes they are RS301's. Had to import them myself from Germany. :) Are you on CGTI?

O ok, I'll be looking at doing mods like that to it, will just have to start saving again if I buy the thing lol

I just wasted 2 ******* hours looking at the Golf that had done 100k miles. Took me an hour to find the dealer, got there and had a look around at it, was a nice car but some of the leather was a bit worn. Asked for a test drive and he said "honestly mate I don't think you can afford it" and in general he was just a rude arrogrant ******. So I just said, "fine, bye", then spent 45 mins driving back home. I'm so ****** off right now as I had the intention of buying the car there and then if I liked it

I know what you mean about encountering hostile dealers - I have yet to get a test drive in a used 530i auto or manual, they are just not interested. Bizarrely the main dealer doesn't seem to care and lets me out in anything I like!
