XBMC uses its own internal library of codecs so if you installed other external codecs and enabled DXVA there it would have no effect.

Just ordered mine. Is there any way to get a raid card and a gfx card in it or will I have to settle for one of them?

There's two PCIe slots, a 16x and a 1x, but both are half length/half height. So you should be able to find 2 cards to fit.

Thanks. How do I know if it's half lenght/height? Does HD5450 fit the bill for example?

Finally bit the bullet and bought one of these. Going to replace my existing ESX server so bought 8GB ram, a 2TB drive and a 4GB usb drive to run it off. Should be good fun.

It's your settings in xbmc have you enabled dxva

Eventually tracked it down to sound driver issues...dont know why it was effecting playback only within XBMC? lip sync tech? no idea, but its working now Was using an external USB sound card which hadnt initialised properly.

Managed to screw up my FREENAS install, accidentally switch off the unit and the unit has now spent two days trying to rebuild my RAID 5 array and seems to be going nowhere!

Second time this has happened, might need to look at other software.

Convinced my dad to order another two for his business, and I'm sure I'll be ordering more in the future These look like excellent microservers which I can easily fit in my room / office.

Question about the ram:
I'd like to stick 8 GB of ram in one (spare stick can go in the other), could anyone tell me what the cheapest make/model of ram is I can buy for this is?
