Good Cheap Server - HP Proliant Microserver 4 BAY - OWNERS THREAD

The black piece sticking out just below the red cable should pull down or towards you, that will move those pieces blocking the plate space and you will be able to slide in the mobo+graphics card, Simply push the black piece back into place when its all together.

Something isnt sitting right or there is a cable in the way or something. I know its a small space but try get a torch and shine it in and see if you can see anything obstructing the mobo tray. Also make sure the mobo is in the right grooves when you slide it back in.

theres nothing blocking the tray and its in the right grooves. i've taken the graphics card and the ram out and still the mobo tray doesnt seem to fit in

Looking at getting a N36L for a SBS 2008 setup for 3 users (4 max) dealing with the basics (DC, Exchange, DNS; general traffic/usage is pretty low). I was planning to load it up with 8GB (Kingston KVR1333D3N9K2/8G; reading on here this appears to work well) and a pair of 1TB drives (either ST1000DL002 or WD10EARS; any other recommendations?) in a raid 1 array for file storage/backups.
From everything I’ve read the microserver appears to be perfectly suited, but does anyone on here see a problem with it?

Also, does anyone know if/when the N40L is likely to be included in the cash back offer?

trying to install whs2011 from usb. get a message saying cant install as primary hard drive is not detected. need drivers. i have the drivers on a usb and when i load them, i still get nothing. any sugggestions

The N40L is unlikely to be included in the cashback, as it is the replacement for the N36L. I presume the cashback is to help clear the old stock.
On the contrary, I expect if it is a replacement for the old model it will be included in the cashback promotion.

The cashback offer has been going for the best part of a year now, survived the hard drive upgrade (and corresponding change of model number) and the server was only for sale for a short period of time before the promotion began. The promotion is most certainly not to clear stock.

Is it worth waiting the few months or so for the N40L to go on promotion? How much of a difference will the increase in CPU and Bus speed make over the N36L?

Not according to HP cashback website only the HP ProLiant Microserver N36L (part code 633724-421) is in cashback offer. http://www8.hp.com/uk/en/campaign/proliantmicroserver/offer.html
The N40L models have different part codes. But no doubt at somepoint the N40L will come with cashback, just not yet.

Double check that the hard drive cable is plugged in properly.
