wth is wrong with mine :-/ how did you create the USB stick? using the MS tool ? Diskpart?
I managed to install it from USB without any problems.
Installed via USB on mine as well...
I have the hacked BIOS to allow AHCI on the ODD SATA port.
I'm using that with an SSD to boot off, the 4 bays at the front are data drives in mine.
If I were you I get a different 2008R2 ISO and try that.
The license code is'nt tied to a particular copy of windows. Is'nt WS2008 R2 64bit only thus not compatible with the Homeserver?
Thanks for the response, I have been at this for a week now, including all day today!
I thought about this but I don't want to fall foul of licenses etc. Any idea if I'd be alright to type in my license code if I use another image?
On this topic then - do you know of anywhere legit I can get hold of another similar ISO? If you don't feel OK to discuss that please feel free to e-mail my trust. My current ISO has Standard, Datacentre and Enterprise versions all on it. If I can try another ISO I am up for it - I am on a mission to get this working!
Regarding your hacked BIOS, does that give you any extra AHCI options in the bios?
It is 64 bit yes, but I don't see why a 64 bit OS wouldn't be compatible with the homeserver, do you have some knowledge to the contrary?
Get it from here, http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/dd459137.aspx
And 2008 R2 works just fine on the Microserver.
