I think it is just that: a myth (a mistake on the HP spares site).
Its not a myth, I've seen pictures..
Loogle the part number
832667-001
Just spoken to our HP guy.
It's a none order-able part as it's classed as a commodity by HP.
It may exist, but users don't get to play with it.
Best advice given, look for a rack server that has it at stock and salvage it from it. (he's trying to track down boxes that it would have been shipped with for me)
It'll come eventually, wonder if all of the new SKU's come with that heatsink or if it only comes with ones with a certain CPU or above..
The cashback is still on, cant link it directly due to it probably being a competitor link but if you google hp microserver cash back you should find the link to the form.
"Product must have been invoiced and
delivered between 16th November 2015 -
31st January 2016"
For £170 it's a cracking price... cheaper than Synology and better!
You can still claim the cashback though, I think.
From the main competitor where I bought both of mine, the price is still £364 today.
Thanks. Ordered it last night. £120 after my £50 voucher was deducted, and I'll be able to claim the £55 cashback too. I think Amazon had a £10 off any order over £50 yesterday too. Work gave me a 120GB SSD and they reckon they have some 4TB drives spare so I'm potentially going to have a very cheap server soon![]()
Why are people still buying these over the dell T20 at £97 inc cash back. The Dell comes with a Intel Pentium G3220 (3M Cache, 3.00 GHz) too which can be replaced with a Xeon at a later date if you need more power.
The T20 by far out performs the N54L it replaced.
