Thoroughly looking forward to using this, although i'm expecting a few bugs to begin with

The bottom line is AMD have been guilty of spreading their resources too thin and would do well to concentrate on getting quality hardware on the shelves.
Sorry but that is the truth.
At least as far as AMD goes I have not jumped ship and will continue to support them.
Mantle was crucial, someone had to do it.
But your not wrong.
still, on the CPU front its looking like Zen is what everyone hopes it is, Rumoured testing has it at Haswell IPC (This is architectural, its irrespective of what node it will be made on, it could yet be higher) there will be an 8 core 16 thread version of it for AM4.
That would make AMD relevant in CPU's again.
16nm HBM2 GPU's will arrive next year. and its all wrapped up with nice software.

So it will be 2 generations behind Intel by the time it launches then
I think mantle succeeded in what AMD wanted, early understanding of low level API and game development.
AMD also got LiquidVR and helped Vulkan.. I would say that is very successful tbh
Just means the 8 core 16 thread isn't going to be £800, or more with the way Intel are going with jacking the prices up. the new 8 thread i7 is what, £350?
Not if they carry on the gpu pricing mantra.
Yes they did and no one bought it so it had to come down to AMD levels.Didn't amd launch the 9590 at around $900?
That wasn't long enough ago to be irrelevant.
Microsoft would not have given 2 hoots about an api that at best only 30% of pc gamers could / would use.
Just think, without direct x 11 mantle would never have been thrown together.
They are after your money as are any other company.
No, but they do care about consoles and the console API they had at the time was junk.
I think AMD offered Mantle as part of the console deal but with conditions, that the API would become the new DX standard on PC too, MS refused and AMD launched for PC anyway, as Mantle.
Crimson is good news for Radeon owners. It means that Koduri and the Radeon Technology Group is doing something to sort out the software side of their business. Hopefully it will one day rival GFE for features...that would be nice.
The thing is for quite a number of years Nvidia users have constantly spewed BS about how Radeon drivers were much worse than Nvidia drivers etc..etc.. We know this is not true in reality no matter how many times you keep shouting it out at the top of your voices....same with everything else they spout....keep dragging up old news to keep the green flag flying and the red one at half mast.
It doesnt really matter what Radeon do to hardware or software, as Nvidia users will always find something negative to say about it. If the software turns out to be great then they will say "But isnt it a crappy looking interface" etc..etc..and vice versa.
The thing is Radeon Tech are looking into it and making changes which are IMHO for the better....that is a good thing as far as I am concerned. I am a relatively new owner of a Fury Tri-X and I am very happy with my card. Freesync is awesomely smooth and gaming is great.
Go Radeon!!
