Google blocked by school

Google is full of adult material via it's image catch (which seems to get around filters).

While it seems silly to block, it's known to bypass much security.

....it would seem you've done it, sweet, this doesnt work for other sites though, can't get youtube or antyhing this way

When you nslookup stuff like YouTube you may get several IPs back... try different ones. Depending on how links on the site work you may or may not be able to navigate to pages other than the landing page. You can try substituting in the IP if you have a URL though.

Blocking Google is insane, what are the IT folks thinking. I guess Wikipedia is probably off the menu too just in case you might learn something.

Looks like you will have to use logmein or something like that via web interface and use your PC at home to get anywork done!

I can understand why youtube might be blocked in case your all watching family guy or something else! :)

wikipedia works fine, in fact you can get on to a lot of websites i would class worse than youtube........*cough* general discussion forum on overclockers*cough*, seems someone in the IT department has had a bit of a derp moment

You managed to post 'in before the lock' in a spambot thread before the spambot posted said thread. Somehow, I feel a firewall isn't going to present you with much of a problem...

BURN THE WITCH

:D

ALL OF THEM are blocked

I highly doubt that al the proxies have been blocked. At school, before we found out about stuff like ultrasurf, we went through hundreds of proxies. usually they were blocked within a couple of days, but as soon as one was blocked we found another.

I suggest you look in the depths of whatever search engine isnt blocked on your computer for phproxy. I'm talking something like 50 pages in (and not the pages right at the end of the list of links to pages of the search either)

Also, try using a webpage translator. They also work like proxies. on a similar line, those websites that 'translate' a website into something silly like pirate speak or whatever might work too

lol might give that a go tomorrow

Set up your home PC as a web proxy, I.T. dept can't ban it because you can change the ip address at will, they'd have to create a whitelist.

Doubt they're actually actively banning Google. Check the reason - "Temporarily Unavailable".
Otherwise, do you use Google+ with loads of feeds etc on your homepage? Could be one of these has triggered the block but would still expect something more than the temp unavailable message.
Or you could always just ask someone from IT...
