Google employees given Google Nexus

Mine is currently sat at my friends house. He will bring it into work tomorrow.

Really looking forward to it. The Iphone seems boring in comparison.

Can you only order these online or are they in any shops at all? I'm off to the US for work in a few weeks and was wanting to take a look at one to replace the hero!

Also, i've not read all of the thread but how long does the battery tend to last for most people? At the moment the Hero seems to give me a couple of days at best.

AFAIK you can get them online only, both in the UK (import) or in the US.

I have found the battery to be ok if you turn off certain background functions when not needed. There is a widget that the phone ships with that lets you control the wifi, bluetooth, GPS, automatic syncing and change the brightness levels and it's pretty handy for conserving power. I wouldn't think you'd get better battery life out of this than your hero however, but the screen is awesome and it's very fast in use indeed!

I've never been on T-mobile before griffo, despite the local speed problem you have, do you find the coverage generally quite good?

I never struggle for a connection, its just a lot slower than my friends Nexus on Vodafone - yes there are 2 Nexi in our uni house :D :p I'm now running the 3rd radio image [Shipping radio, OTA radio update, leaked 2nd radio update] and I can't see any difference in speed. My advice would be to try it for a month on their rolling contracts, its a bit of a pain, but you'll know for sure that way, and there's no commitment if you don't like it

Get out Alan Partridge :D

Sounds like a good plan. I'm on Vodafone at the moment, and I don't actually get that good reception in my house, so changing provider might fix that. But if there's no benefit, then speed/price is what will decide it I guess.

When I first got the phone the battery life was really bad, but after a weeks worth of use, the battery life seems to be getting better. Same story for a workmate who has the same phone. I can nearly get two days use out of it before I have to charge it.

Have you bothered turning off GPS/Wifi/live wallpapers? Or is that 2 days with all the standard features running

I switched to a static wallpaper, but I keep WIFI and GPS on all day. I've also turned off the auto-brightness of the screen, as I found it a bit annoying and too dark.

After I play around with the phone for a while (starting several apps) I'll normally kill all the opened apps with Advanced Task Killer which can be done with a single click of a button. You can also get it to remember what apps to keep open when you hit the "Kill Apps" button.

It's horses for courses isn't it. I think there's an app you can get which toggles the wifi depending on your GPS location so that if you're in an area where you know you can get wifi like home, work, uni, etc it will automatically switch it on for you, and off all other times. I think that's pretty cool!

This guys managed to get Debian up and running :D http://www.irregular-expression.com/?p=30

Is it possible to set the phone to download through GPRS if 3g isn't available?

Even though im in central London, the Virgin 3G seems to be very spotty :( And when it's using 2G instead I get network errors when trying to use data connectivity.

Got my N1 and love it...but anyway to just add contacts and have them show in the contacts section without syncing with anything?

Do you mean like adding them manually? You can go to contacts and press the menu button and it gives you an option to add them manually there. Or if you mean to add them from a sim card or something, there is an option to import them also.

I must admit, I synced with facebook and it just rammed my contacts list with people I never really speak to much so I've got rid of them. I exported my gmail contacts as a csv file, edited that to get all the data nice and tidy then synced that back in and now it's just to my liking. There is an app that can sync only the pictures from your facebook profile (i.e. not all the contacts too) which is handy, but it is currently being tested for Android 2.0 I think. It's called Syncmypix, hopefully will be available soon.

Does that in any way answer your question mate?!

C5's Gadget Show gave it a disappointing 3G's (3/5) based on poor pic and video quality and the touchscreen/typing issues. Was a lame review as i'd expect from the show which once decided mp3 sounded better than CD but thought I'd share. I still want one

The picture quality isn't fantastic that's true. Haven't had any issues with the screen or typing though. I'd never really used a touchscreen phone for texting and stuff, and it's definitely taking some getting used to, but I'm getting the hang of it.
