Google Music

Match is no longer working for me i guess, only did 400 tracks overnight :(

not sure if that worked even for one song for me.

Uploaded all my music at work :) went pretty smooth :)

I haven't seen any official announcement of the scan and match service and it's not mentioned in the help so I wonder if they haven't released it yet.

Only sign it might have worked was one track said it was possibly mismatched and then wouldn't play. All other tracks took ages so weren't matching.

I did 6k in 12 hrs on a 1mbit upload. I presume that match is working for me; it is uploading off my terribly slow microserver.

Scan and match is definitely working for me. Well for one song at least. My version has a screwed up bit in the middle, plays perfectly from the version online now.

It must have been working for me yesterday, it did 1700 tracks in under 3 hours.

I'll just leave it going slowly in the background, not in a hurry to use it anyway.

Are you guys embedding album art before you upload? At the moment I've just got a folder.jpg in each album as that's how I prefer it for my foobar setup.

I don't think that works (I've got most of mine as cover.jpg)

Personally I'm going through and embedding all mine in the tags, then I guess I'll reupload them. I have no idea how Google Music handles the tag information changing for music it's already uploaded, will it update them for the new information or just ignore them?

Took about 3 hours in the end but some of them have a few tag/sync issues that for now I'm not bothered about. As of now though I'm impressed!

Google Music is a godsend for me at uni, as my macbook air only has a 128GB SSD, ive got all my music on my google music account, and the 'hard' copy at home on my desktop.

I needs a bit of help and to be quite honest I am a total noob when it comes to sync, cloud based apps and uploads etc.

Basically on my hard drive is an Albums folder and it has all my artists in each folder. I have installed Google Music and it is syncing my music now.

My issue is a few of the albums are duplicating and are separating maybe 2 or 3 songs from the album and splitting it in to two. Why is this happening? (pic below demonstrates)

Top right is because the titles are different, case makes a difference. The other two probably have errors somewhere as well.

My biggest problem when I first started using it was compilation albums. If Google detected the same song elsewhere it refused to upload it leaving albums incomplete. Hopefully fixed by now.

Okay, got a reply about scan and match not working. Near useless. Only good thing about it is that it recognises that it actually exists (the only word from Google about it so far is in the original blog post announcing it - it isn't mentioned anywhere else). Here it is.
Hi ultra_HR,

Thanks for your interest in the Music on Google Play scan and match service. The scan and match service is a new matching feature for the Music Manager that streamlines the process of uploading your personal music to Google Play. We’ll scan your music collection and any song we match against the Google Play catalog will be automatically added to your online library without needing to upload it, saving you time.

Please note that at this time, Scan and Match is only available in the UK, Spain, France, Italy, and Germany. We hope to bring it to the U.S. as soon as possible, so stay tuned!

If you have any more question please reply back, I would be happy to assist you further.

Thanks,

Chris

Brilliant.

Scan and match definitely not working for me. I wonder if it is because I signed up previously when in the US?

Any one had much luck getting the non DRM m4p files un DRM'd? Supposed to be a Itunes Plus option but I can't see it.

Google music doesn't like it :(
