Still waiting for my N6 to be shipped from GPS.

While waiting I'm trying to decide what to do as soon as i get it.

I've never rooted any of my Android phones, so I'd appreciate advice on whether it is still worth doing, and what the pros and cons are. What's the recommended guide for a newbie? The "[HOW-TO] The Nexus 6 All-In-One Beginner's Guide" on XDA forums seems like a good one.

Are there any must have kernels or ROMs to install, or is it just what you fancy?

Also is it still worth decrypting the phone, or has the cause of performance problems been attributed to something else?

I rooted and decrypted mine within a couple of days of getting it.

Definitely worth rooting for me, double tap to wake and the LED notifications are awesome to have.

Decrypting has sped it up no end too, very much worth doing.

Thanks, sounds like things I may want.

Did you install any other kernel or ROM?

I just updated to 5.0.1, wasn't too bothered about anything else yet, I'll wait a while and let them get things developed if I do. Quite happy how it is right now though really.

Merry Xmas everybody , has anyone bought the £490 nexus 6 from tesco yet.
was going to get one in the new year once stock gets more available but wife's moto g just died yesterday,so she'll get my nexus 5.

On tesco's website its giving a date of 29th dec (pickup from store), hovering over the purchase button now , andycr15 review has helped a lot but still can't do the right thing ...

When I was in town doing Christmas shopping, the cpw had 64gb versions in stock so I picked one up.

A bit of an impulse buy but I need a new phone and this seems to be the most appealing of the phones out there. I just can't get on with toichwiz.

Nice, what colour?

White

It is the first time I have bought a phone without being excited about it. I really need a phone though so I had to take the plunge.

The two phones that suit me from a hardware point of view (note 4 and iPhone) are not right from a software point of view (I loathe the UI design of touchwiz and iOS would require quite a lot of adapting to). The nexus 6 hardware is really not to my liking but vanilla lollipop is exactly what I want.

A refreshed nexus 5 would be perfect.

First impressions are that it is fast but too big.

Though my fingers can reach across the screen to operate one handed, the top heaviness of the phone makes it a little precarious to use one handed because the phone has sufficient weight to flop over the top of a horizontal index finger.

I do like the speakers. All phone speakers should be set up like this.
