Turns out there are lots of people having issues with the 5.1.1 update: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/nexus/Ev4yBSssdIM;context-place=forum/nexus

However because I'm off on hols for a week I'm going to leave it and see if anything changes when I get back. One response suggests it might be because and app has modified a system file:

This is indicative that an app you have installed has modified a system file. As a result the update will not install.

You can install the latest factory image or you can try to see if you can return it to the place of purchase for warranty repair.

Bad form to quote myself I know, but I'm on 5.1.1 at last. Rather than send the phone back I flashed the Nexus 6 with a factory image. Followed one of the guides where you had to unlock the bootloader (and then lock again). Phone is restoring itself now.

Don't know why the OTA didn't work for my phone and why so many people have had problems (the Google Nexus 6 product sub-forum is full of people complaining). Even those individuals claiming to have a brand new phone impacted by the issue.

Jesus I wish the turbo charger didn't buzz so much. I hate to be 'that guy', but I am unfortunately susceptible to these little buzzes and hums. I've seen reviews of numerous other fast-chargers that mention buzzing so it seems like a side-effect of fast-charging. At least you don't have to leave it plugged in long.

I'm with Andy. Mine doesn't make a noise. It's not about noticing it.

My LG GWR does sometimes buzz and yes, I agree it's annoying.

Anyone had the 5.1.1 OTA yet, Googles developer page has it for every device except the N6, unless you have a US T-Mobile or Sprint phone?

Yes, became available about 3 weeks ago for me. Did have big issues with it though (I.e. wouldn't install - hence my post not the far above yours) and I think a few others in the thread have had the OTA.

So I've smashed my screen the day before my case is meant to get here, not that it would have made a huge difference. What's the best place to take it to? Phone still works fine, just can't stand looking at it!

I've looked at Carphone Warehouse/Geeksquad and I'm understanding that all repairs are between £30 (ha!) and £170 and take a week or two, a couple of days if you take it to a geeksquad store. Any better options going?

Andy had the same recently (a few pages back) cost £128 IIRC direct from Motorola :)

What would your reasons be? I can only think of the fact that it's an official fix so interested to hear more benefits other than maybe price. CW can certainly get it back to me quicker if the Corn Market geeksquad store does repairs in-house.

I've already raised it with Moto but I'm worried about being rooted and all that, then there's the speaker buzz that they may or may not notice and fix. If it's just a glass swap would they leave the software alone or do they all go through the same diagnostics?
