What if your job relies on your phone. Then what?

I use mine for work on certain days. If I do then I take my portable charger with me

Also never use sat navy without it plugged in as that does eat the battery

However I don't see any other smartphones offering much more juice wise

I guess if it was my daily driver for work I would get a phone with swappable batteries

Hmm odd. I am only aware of 2 people in this thread that had to RMA

Build quality is best ever for any nexus device. I have owned them all

The rest of the phone is solid, power button is one of the best I've used though it's not the first thing I check for. It was laying on my table the other night and I noticed from the reflections that the screen isn't flat (or smooth, whatever you want to say), it has five or six very small and shallow but wide inset 'dents'. Not an issue as it's all but unnoticeable but I do wonder if they're meant to be there.

All told I think I might actually have got a ringer (pun maybe intended), the reboots are nothing to do with software as it happened when stock too. It was just too early to recognise it as persistent. I think it might be related to my 'hissing speaker' issue, it seems to happen if I try to take a picture when the speaker is still activated from the last picture.

Edit: I googled the speaker issue early on and found threads of people purporting to have gone through multiple devices with the same issue. Given that no one here has reported it I can only assume it's a lot of exaggeration but there is definitely an issue with mine.

Surely there isn't a 'Nexus Build Quality' as they are made by different companies? Isnt it a bit like deciding not to buy any more blue cars as you've had two that kept breaking down?

Hey to the other chap who like me had a fairly constant flashing location notification. I found the rougue app....

It was trip advisor. Uninstalled for now

Well my experiences across multiple devices now point to the fact that there is, but I see what you're saying. And if two of those blue cars had a company in common, I wouldn't buy a third blue car made/collaborated with that company, no.

Is no one else experiencing ridiculous idle battery drain?

Running in safe mode (i.e. all 3rd party apps disabled), and just sat the phone on my desk over night. Why is it waking up so much?! Idle drain is ridiculous!

Turned off location reporting, wifi scanning, all anonymous data reporting etc.

But you'd buy a red one from them? I assume not, meaning the blue element is meaningless and the company is the issue, which was my point.

Haha we were both making the same point I guess. Your point about there not being any one standard of build quality may be wrong though as google are a common factor, I have no idea what conditions or whatever they put on the manufacturer.

True, I think they only have influence on design though, not really the building of it? That's over to HTC, Samsung, LG or Motorola I would think.

Yeah that makes sense to me, wasn't sure if there were any physical/financial directives or whatever though. I do want to know why my volume button is so dire when the rest is solid though!

My speaker hiss seems at least somewhat software affected as it's louder on UI elements (if touch sounds are left on) now I'm running Chroma ROM. If I could just turn off the HDR shutter sound I'd never hear it.

Are you rooted? I'd get betterbatterystats to analyse it.

The screen is great and touch response is excellent. I've adjusted the colours so they are a little less saturated and pushed up the white balance as it was a tad on the warm side.

The only thing that could be improved is the max brightness. It's not strong enough outdoors on a sunny day.

Google fit has started eating my battery. Not sure why. I use it a lot as well

Same started to happen to me so I ended up factory resetting in the end. This always seems to happen with Lollipop for me after a few months, some app will just take it upon itself to eat battery as fast as it can :/.

I checked my battery stats yesterday evening as I was quite busy at work so this is the first real day of 'normal' usage where I've not played with it at some point, though I did listen to some music. Although screen on time is expectedly crap, the idle battery life seems really good. I'm honestly not sure how Doze is going to improve it a great deal, my phone did literally nothing but check for emails twice the whole afternoon.
