Google Pixel 5

The only thing putting me off at the moment is the fact my 2XL is running so darn well (mine is almost certainly refurbed, as I RMA'd after 23 months), and in some ways, I feel like I'll get this and apart from the way it looks and feels in the hand, there won't be much real difference and I'll get buyers remorse.

That's what I'm worried about too, coming from a 2XL - mine's smashed up, so I've got the choice of paying my £100 insurance excess to get a replacement or go for one of the new Pixels.

I purchased a 4a last week but haven't even opened it and thinking about sending it back, it doesn't seem like it will be much (if any) upgrade on my 2XL.

If mine was smashed up it would make the decision much easier but frankly it's almost in brand new condition and the battery still easily lasts a day and then some.... And 550 quid is still 550 quid. The elephant in the room is the updates but really most smartphones should still be secure to a degree even without the patches although the longer it's end of life, the worse that is going to be so I guess next year I'll definitely have to replace it but by then I can probably pick up a second hand Pixel for 300ish anyway.

People still waiting on headphones ? I applied on the earliest date after pre order and it was accepted

May I ask what do you mean? I'm still using my p20 pro usb-c wired headphones as my pixel didn't come with any, I'm going to presume you mean the ear bud tampon looking things. As I see Google seel their own lol

I've just seen a huge scratch on my Pixel 5 screen :( And it has essentially stayed in my pocket!

It's not that the glass is softer, because it isn't, but it's still annoying because I treated my XS like crap and don't have many scratches at all

Oh well, gives it character I guess :p

Having funny issues with notifications still - emails and calendar notifications usually arrive 5 minutes after they should, compared to the instant rate on my iPhone. Is this a Doze thing (or whatever it's called now)

Got my Bose headphones and sound is great but how do I get the button to work with Google assistant? It keeps asking me to 'open the Google assistant on your phone and try that button again"

How good is the video this year? It is the achilles heel of my Pixel 2. Has it improved a lot in recent models and more like the iPhone? Been putting off jumping to an iPhone for video for a while in the hope that the Pixel can try and compete on that front.
