Google Pixel 8/8 Pro & Pixel Watch 2

it's a nice phone.
I'm not blown away coming from a 4a5G like I was going from a OnePlus 3T to the 4a5G.

yeah - I'm going down in size (from s21 Ultra) but really just looking for a clean (not bloat) phone and improvement on battery life as my 3.5 year old s21 is struggling to make 24 hours now without a charge even light use.

Also the trade is value was decent so why not.

Happy with phone so far - only niggle is that the volume buttons and lock button are the opposite way round than my old S21 ultra - so I keep hitting the volume button instead of the lock button. More muscle memory I suppose than anything.

Otherwise - smaller screen/phone is fine.

hey all.

mentioned before, but now need to finally do it..
which cases you recommend? google one is too grippy/sticky ..material is nooce in touch, defo protects the phone as it had few drops....just need something that will actually let me phone in to pocket and out without pulling inner lining of pocket with it LOL

I just bought this one, very happy with it.

So, after almost seven years of sticking with my old budget Mate 10 Pro I found a deal for a Pixel 8 Pro that seemed good value and a good time to upgrade.

After so long with a basic phone (which recently has been freezing and lagging even in Chrome), I have basically only been using two Japanese learning apps, email and Chrome. Any recommended apps and accessories to make the most of what the Pixel 8 series is capable of? (I am aware that is possibly an overly broad question...)

I got my P8Pro yesterday.

It's a nice step up from my aging Mate 10 Pro. The screen looks great, the phone is snappy and smooth, it's nice not to have third party bloat, and I'm getting on board with the things the At a Glance assisstant thingy does too. The battery life seems great too. Though that is coming from a seven year-old phone, I guess.

It is huge, though! It's made me really appreciate how small and light my old Mate 10 was, but I think I will get used to it.

I also had my usual experience trying to get a screen protector on properly - wipe down screen, inspect closely, use dust removers, inspect closely... yup. confident that's dust-freee... apply screen protector - air bubbles galore and six or seven specks of dust stopping them going away. Every. Damned. Time.!

Got through all three protectors in the box and went through this process fresh every time. Will probably try again in a week or two. Inspecting my old phone under a bright light made me realise how scuffed it was and how many micro-sractches there were (even though I barely noticed in daily use tbf).

Try putting it on in the bathroom with the shower on , the steam gets rid of the dust in the air.

Ah, I think I remember hearing that tip after my last screen protector debacle, but totally forgot to do it!

Anyway, it looks like all but one of the air bubbles have just disappeared on their own since my last post, leving just one that is definitely a speck of dust just near the fingerprint reader. I wonder if I could use the sticky dust picker upper things to grab it off the protector and then stick it back down? I might try that in the bathroom with the shower running.

I had a weird issue with my Pixel 8 Pro today. I needed to get an authentication code for a work website but the Google Authenticator app was not responding to my touch in good time. It only ever scrolled to extreme ends of the codes and the code I needed was in the middle. I decided to restart my phone but then I found that I couldn't get the settings drawer to come down to let me choose the power button and restart. I ended up googling how to hard restart the phone (Power + Volume Up) but when I had the 4 way option I could barely get the restart button to take effect. It seemed to me that the top and bottom quarters of the screen just didn't respond to touch and I only had control over the middle half of the screen.

I eventually got the phone restarted and its been fine since but has this happened to anyone else/a known issue?

This case is also worth considering.
