Google Pixel 9 Series (9/9 Pro/9 Pro XL/9 Pro Fold & Pixel Watch 3)

Been keeping an eye on deals to replace my tired OnePlus 9 Pro; either the 12 or the Pixel 9 Pro XL...

I was seriously tempted by the Black Friday deal on the OP12 for £699 (£479 after selling the 9 Pro for £220 to a mate), but was offered the 256Gb P9ProXL for £689 (£469 after Man-Mathing my OP 9 Pro).

I looked at contract deals, but nothing can beat my legacy 3 Unlimited Data SIM for £9.89 a month.

I've had a decade with OnePlus (3, 5T, 7T & 9 Pro) and loved each one, but really fancied a change and looking forward to exploring the Pixel range...

Does anyone find the finger print scanner sometimes stays active once you double click the power button to open the camera?
Also for me out of the 6/7/8 this seems to be the worst fps of the lot, quite hit and miss.

Still waiting for my Black Friday deal on pixel 9 pro. Quite excited to try / move over from apple, got a bit fed up of IOS and after having someone sit in my car with android auto it felt far superior.
Estimated 19th now , was 5th.

First proper outing with the Pixel camera on Sunday, got some URBEX on the agenda. Usually I would take my DSLR and tripod etc but I'm on a mission to see what a phone camera is capable of that this is all I will be using for photos/videos and doing all editing in Lightroom Mobile. Pics to follow

I found the Pixel to be much better for quick documentary style shooting vs my S24 Ultra, and the better dynamic range is extremely versatile.

Just wanted to chime in and say I love this phone, coming from Pixel 7 pro the Pixel 9 pro has better battery life, better signal and much better build quality. The latest update lets you limit your charge to 80% maximum to save battery life - testing this but it seems awesome so far!

Is there anyway to take actual raw images on the pixel 9 ProXL ? - As awesome as GCAM is, a signifcant amount of processing is done. Are any 3rd party camera apps able to just dump the image taken and allow you to decide what fixes etc you want ?

Pro settings in the camera allows you to select raw and jpeg creation. I assume the raw file isn't processed like the jpeg

Just enable the option for RAW+JPEG:

Now every photo taken will have both a jpeg and a DNG raw file. 1.9MB vs 12.xMB.

The difference is only really obvious zoomed in for a general photo, though the complex examples below are using the exact same RAW processing custom preset I have in Lightroom Mobile so you can see what they are both like as all RAW files need processing, whereas the jpg uses HDR+ and generally probably doesn't unless you want to.

The Pixel's RAW files are considerably better to work with than Samsung's RAW files, less noise too and more detail.
