Google Pixel 9 Series (9/9 Pro/9 Pro XL/9 Pro Fold & Pixel Watch 3)

It's a shame you were looking a couple of weeks ago, the Google store deals on all the 9 range were cracking alongside enhanced trade in offers and free buds people have been getting the fold which retails at the best part of £2k for £500

Kick a man while he's shopping :D

I think the wife would like the fold. Even if it breaks after 12 months. I have the phone insurance with nationwide, so would be fine

I might end up getting the 8a

I have a personal budget for phones of £500. I could spend more but where do you stop? Same with GPUs, I usually buy used and £400 is my max for them :D

Hoping black Friday has a wonderful deal for me
John Lewis is doing the 8 Pro for 400 quid with a 100 boosted trade in for an old phone...

Juts saw this too.... Wow!

Don't use trade in, you get cheap valuation. Sell your old phone to a recycling site for much more and use TCB/Quidco to get purchase cashback from google Store. Airtime Rewards currenlty has Google Store on too for 2% cashback towards your mobile phone bill so extra cash there to be claimed too.

The back of the Pixel 9 I find really really appealing and have not felt that with any other phone since my Xperia Z5 and its frosted back. Something about the shade of colours used and the style of the camera bump. I kind of felt that with the Exclusive colour of my S23 Ultra in red as it had blacked out frame and camera rings, but the single wide module I feel just works much better, and there's no desk wobble when flat on the worktop, which is nice.

For all their failings, I think Google nailed the design of the 9 really.

I've gone back to pixel with a black Friday offer and so far I'm a bit annoyed. I had a pixel 2 and 5 and both were incredible phones, they felt like the proper android experience. I then switched to a One Plus 10t pro and it felt like a downgrade, it didn't feel as premium and it was missing little touches that made it feel so smooth, such as it logging songs played around you.

I've heard a lot of complaints about pixel since (mainly with the 8) and I now see why. It feels clunky. I have been getting annoyed with YouTube opening within Whatsapp and not in a separate app when clicking links, and when tabbing out of apps the keyboard is staying open (apparently this could go away switching to gestures instead of 3 buttons).

It's a shame it no longer feels like a premium android experience and now just feels like any other android phone.

** Oh and one other note, the battery life doesn't seem great either

Which Pixel are you referring to here, the 8? the 6 and 7 had numerous issues and complaints and year after year even before then I was not that amused by what Google was seemingly offering, this only changed with the 8, something that actually looked and felt "Samsung" if that makes sense as far as physical form goes and in ways actually going beyond that in terms of physical ergonomics (let's ignore the power button position for now).

This is a settings/user issue, not really anything to do with Pixel specifically. All YouTube links I click load in YouTube, if you click the thumbnail with the play icon on it instead, then yes it plays in the internal player which is expected behaviour. You click the link if you want to open it in the YouTube app. This behaviour applies to all phones running Android.

Sorry the 8 pro, realized I posted in the wrong thread. I would say the 5 and 2 definitely felt superior to samsung as an android device imo, I even preferred the design of them coming from HTC.

The YouTube thing I don't think is a settings error. I have tried changing it and having Googled it and it seems to be a known issue from a YouTube update. I'm not on about it running in a window in the app. It will open YouTube inside of the WhatsApp app and when you tab you will see the YouTube app with Whatsapp icon at the top and can not go back to WhatsApp with the YouTube video still open. You have to go back and close the video to get back to WhatsApp. Similar to how you would navigating to a link in Gmail and it not taking you directly to a separate instance of you browser, but the browser within the app.

under Default Apps there are a few settings, mainly the Opening Links area at the bottom, checked here? I have never seen that issue, all links to YT open in the YT app in all other apps:
