Google Pixel and Pixel XL

Great! I'll find out tomorrow, but I suspect I'll be in the same boat. The mobiles.co.uk site has the deal amended to 1GB now and a handset cost of £209.99

I know it's not popular to be criticising the phone in here, but I honestly think the camera has its flaws. I saw a watch in a jewellers shop today and tried to take a photo for future purchase ponder... And it couldn't do it. It just kept blurring in and out of focus. I think the multiple light sources reflecting off the bracelets were just too much for the software to cope with.

I've took some cracking pictures of scenic shots, but anything with multiple light source or motion seems to have this camera struggling.

Was there glass between the lens and the rings? With light reflecting of that, a lot of cameras can struggle in that situation.

Yea, there was glass and I'm sure that and the lighting was the cause. Thing is, I've used my Z3C camera for the same purpose because I've got a thing about watches... but the Z3C always managed to settle on a focus.

I also tried to take a photo of my 2 year old dancing tonight as it was hilarious... but the camera was zooming in and out like mad again as it couldn't find something to focus on.

It's definitley different from my previous camera, really noticeable. Still image shots are stunning, but movement and multiple light sources just seems to confuse the software.

It would be fairer to compare the iPhone in its first year to the Pixel, would it not?

Not really, what would that achieve? The iPhone launched nearly 10 years ago and Android is hardly an immature platform.

I understand it's supposed to be Google's take on the iPhone but the more obvious comparison would be with other Android handsets surely? Even then it's not a perfect comparison as you have issues like the Note disaster to consider which will have helped it a little.

I can't say I have that problem. I was ice skating last night, lots of flashing lights, lots of movement, it didn't have a problem focusing.

You've not got a case on it have you? Also, check the sensor on the back is clear.

Cool looks like they're gonna honour it :)

Number will be ported Friday. Says my first payment is due by the 8th of December which seems a bit soon. The date for the bill period is the 27th to the 27th of November, with a second bill due by the 27th of December. Both for £24.

I seem to be suffering from some sort of focusing problem or reduced quality of pictures from the selfie camera. My nexus 6p was far superior in this regard. Do they both have the same front facing camera? anyone else in a similar boat?

We Pixel buyers seem to have been out in force during "Black Friday", esp in the US where research firm Localytics posted the following note. The bottom line: "Google Pixel wins Black Friday".

"The Google Pixel emerged as the ultimate victor as it experienced a 112% growth of new devices activated as compared to the average of the activations from the previous four weekends."

Apparently, Apple device sales "showed lackluster performance" over this past weekend. Samsung Galaxy S7 activations were better than Apple's but lagged Google Pixel.

Yes, same here (check my post history in this thread). I think the software needs tweaked.

Same here, showing as 1gb. Do you know if it will automatically update or am I going to need to call them?

Cant say. They only said "We're aware of the issue and it will be resolved", at the time i didnt ask if it affected other people.

My hunch is they'll fix it for everyone. I put a phone number you can call on the previous page though.

Have you actually read in to those stats? Just because it "grew" by a high percentage over that particular weekend means nothing. The iPhone still outsold it something like 16/1. Probably due to there being no offers on the iPhone 7 over black friday I guess.

Still eyeing up a pixel in the new year I think.

Did you contact them through the support app on your phone at all?

Yes. I actually returned my phone for a refund as I didn't think it was worth £700 with the camera flaws taken into consideration. When I saw the CPW deal for £180 less (albeit 32GB instead of 128GB) I decided to buy at that price and accept the camera flaws, as hopefully an update to the software can sort it.
