Google Pixel and Pixel XL

£700 for a £600 phone with 6gb data is crazy, first contract I've had for 9 years... I always buy outright but I couldn't get 6gb of data for 24 months for £100 if I tried.

Same here, been buying outright for the past 10 years, had a couple contracts before that but always were more expensive whenever I looked, this deal is awesome though.

worked it out as was very tempted, but still cheaper for me to buy a op3T with my current sim only deal and not have to deal with the ineptitude of vodafone for the next two years!

Just ordered the Vodafone £24/month £125 upfront. Nice to get a new phone after so long!

First android phone was the Tmobile G1, then the DesireZ, the Galaxy S3 LTE, and most recently the Galaxy S5.

Only disappointment is not going for the XL, but this deal was too good to pass up.

Hoping I don't notice the difference too much when using daydream vr?

After owning this phone for awhile it really is the best phone I've ever had which includes the iPhone 7 and S7E. It just gets everything I need done, and it gets it done effortlessly.

At first the price tag was a bit stupid I found but after owning it for awhile I can say that it is worth it. Camera is the best I've ever had, it shoots faster then the iPhone 7 and S7E, auto HDR makes 99% of the shots better then both those devices, it does amazingly well in low light.

Battery life is pretty mind blowing. A typical day for me is 4.5H SOT (Pixel not XL), which includes 2hours gaming, 3-6 hours of music/podcasts 1hour of netflix/youtube streaming over 4G and normal messaging and internet. The iPhone 7 would not get me through a day, not once. The S7E would normally keep up and last me the whole day but the Pixel is only a 5" device so its pretty impressive.

Speed and performance so far I've not noticed a single slow down yet. Everything is smooth, and at this point honestly its better then the iPhone for me. The iPhone 7 (could be iOS) would have times were things slowed down, were I would hit the home button and get the taptic feedback and for a split second nothing happened. Getting the Pixel made these things apparent too me.

Overall very pleased and excited to see what google does next year. The Design does need some work, the front gets confused for an iPhone and the back just looks a bit weird, I do like the wedge shape, feels comfortable to hold, removes the camera hump and allows a bigger battery while feeling thinner were you typically hold the phone. They did blame a short manufacturing time on the lack of water resistance so lets see what the Pixel II has.

Ref my previous comments about Wave7 Research on Verizon US contract activations of Pixels in the last month (7.5% of all Verizon smartphone activations) and my sense of its popularity in UK, and it seems India too:

Headline in Business Insider today: "Morgan Stanley: Google on track to sell 3 million Pixel devices in 2016, 5-6 million next year". Also, it is estimated that the Pixel is half as profitable to Google as the iPhone is to Apple--higher cost of materials plays a part.

Appears to be right decision to move away from Nexus to Pixel.

Sure that's still about Apple's buying power being able to push prices of their parts down in such large quantities?

Agree, because the 5-6 million Pixels that Google is expected to sell in 2017 for a revenue total of $ 4 billion pales in comparison to the $ 137 billion in revenues Apple made from iPhone sales last year.

Google seeks to close the app purchase advantage enjoyed by Apple (users spend 3X on iOS apps than users of Android on their apps). Pixel should help. The report mentions:

"Features unique to the Pixel, such as the Google Assistant, the Pixel camera, and Daydream (Google’s virtual reality headset, which works with the Pixel), plus the smartphone’s deeper app integration, increased prominence of Android Pay, and improved computing power (compared to other Android devices), will ultimately lead to users spending more money on Android".

Just in case anyone else gets this issue:

My contract came through and when i (eventually) got a myvodafone account set up (3 calls to customer service) I noticed it was only 1gb Data. I called them and they said it was Mobiles.co.uks problem (actually they said it was Carphone Warehouse' problem so i assumed theyre the same thing). I just called Mobiles and they said "We're aware of this issue and it's being resolved".

I'm assuming that means the 6gb was a horrible typo, but they'll have to honour it. Everything i've recieved in order confirmations says 6gb i guess it's a problem between Mobiles and Vodafone.

TLDR: Anyone who got the VF 24/M contract, double check your data and call Mobiles.co.uk (01509 615 474) if its not right.
