Google Pixel and Pixel XL

Have just contacted Vodafone after getting this on the black friday £24/m 6GB plan and asked for more data. Offered me £30/m for 12GB so snapped that up! Bargain.

New to the thread, how is everyone's battery, I heard it was awesome but I took mine off charge about 6:30 this morning and I'm currently at 25% with only 40 mins of screen on time.

Streamed about an hour of music earlier but it has seemed a bit lackluster since I got it.

This is the XL

I would say something isn't right. mine came off around 7:30 and is at 76% right now. I only have 32 mins SOT, but have 1 hour of Bluetooth streaming podcasts.

What are top in your battery use?

Sounds like your use is similar to mine.

Top 3:

Android System - 24%
Google Services - 14%
Android OS - 10%

well I've pretty much decided I want a 128gb xl, been looking for weeks if not longer but always out of stock, is buying from google the best place or can anyone recommend anywhere else?

They look rather high. Does this happen every day? Sometimes things glitch and you just need to reboot.

Was happening after reboot, I cannot factory reset as my bus ticket is on there, I did however uninstall almost every app I had installed an cleared the cache, charged it full last night and it seems to be better already.

Every time I looked at it yesterday it always guessed about 8 hours remaining, today it's showing 1 day & 12 hours which is a lot better. I was worried there was something wrong with my battery but a battery app I installed seemed to think it was ok

Will see how it goes today. Interestingly yesterday charged it for just short of an hour on the charger that came with my Z3 I think 1a, it rose barely a few percent in that time. After clearing everything off and plugging into my pixel charger it gained about 60% in the same time.

Something was definitely draining my battery hard. I have a sneaky suspicion it was the Google fit sync.

Even the pixel isnt beyond the android system drain bug... sad to see!
as good as android is its in a bit of a mess with this issue - has been going on for too long unpatched.

Facebook, its Facebook.

Remove that bloated bag of garbage and watch android system disappear. Android System will be high in low signal situations as well.

It's not a bug, the only issue here is that under the current system it doesn't show certain apps as using the battery because they are using those services.

Apps dictate when to wake and the system just goes along with it.

I'd like to get a few people's opinion's regarding the Pixel, would you recommend it whole heartedly?
Really like the look of the Pixel intrigued more than anything, I like the idea of a pure android experience.
My last Android phone was an s2 which was great but definitely had it's issues and bugs, since then i've been settling with iPhone's which just seems to be very hassle free easy to use but I like to change things up.

So for any one out there who has had this phone a couple of months i'd really appreciate to hear your thoughts, is this a phone you would recommend without any reservations?

100%. I've had mine now since December and love it, better than any Samsung Galaxy I've owned (and I've owned every Galaxy flagship since the S2).

The stock android is exquisite and when I use someone's Samsung now I really notice how laggy it is in comparison. Timely updates are also a massive boon as nearly all you read about on the forums these days is people wondering when they will finally get Nougat, us Pixel owners have been rolling in it since release pretty much.

The camera is the best I've ever used on a smartphone and I am a fairly keen photographer. Over the autumn/winter I had my Sony Bridge camera out quite a bit and in all honesty, the best 2 photos I took looking back through them were 2 I actually took with my Pixel!

I loved the look of it too, it was one of the first things that caught my attention. A lot of people bemoan the chunky(ish) bezels and the rather large 'chin' at the bottom but I really like these features, mainly because it allows you get a good firm grip on your phone - especially when watching videos. My last Samsung (S6 edge+) became a real chore to use and not accidentally register a touch action given the curved screen and relative lack of side bezels.

And finally on the screen, it is superb. I know it's SuperAmoled like the galaxies but for some reason I think it is much better, possibly down to Samsung's penchant for oversaturated colours, which I don't mind really, but the Pixel just stands out as superior.

I would agree with all the above, I think it's the best phone on the market at the moment, as long as you're okay with it's price. I wouldn't go as far as saying it's the best value (maybe look at the OnePlus 3T if that's important) but I'd be surprised if you weren't happy with it.

Agree with AndyCR15 about his whole-hearted endorsement of the Pixel. I have had it since Day 1 and it is the best phone I have ever owned from Google. I have bought Nexus phones previously and this is really a step up in just about every way, except as has been pointed out, price.

I have long held that although not a bargain in Pound Sterling terms, given the big drop in the Pound vs the Dollar since Brexit, Google could have raised prices by now. You probably saw for example that Apple today raised iPhone app prices by 25% due to Brexit hit to the Pound. If you are thinking of buying I would say the Pixel prices could actually rise, not fall!

And it is a hit everywhere. Check out Fierce Wireless comments today about the Pixels in the US where Verizon is the exclusive operator. Last month the Pixel accounted for approximately 10% of all Verizon phone sales. The ad spend has been big and demand has exceeded supply which appears to be the case in the UK as well.
