Google Pixel and Pixel XL

People must be taking pictures of a bowl of fruit with these cameras, because any time I try to take a picture of a person who as much as blinks, the movement is enough to confuse the software into mega-blur mode.

That might be true but I find it not so important because I often hold down the button to take the picture so I get to take at least 20 snaps at a time and let Google's algorithm choose the best one and often use others for a collage. Call it machine learning or AI but the end product usually looks amazing.

Do you use this feature often?

I don't use that, but will give it a try. Cheers for that.

Anyone know if these work with micro usb otg cables ? I bought some off the bay and they 'seem' to carry data but don't work with an otg cable

pixel -> included otg -> micro usb cable (type a to micro usb) -> usb dac works

but as you can imagine looks a bit over the top

Tried them with OTG cable and it didn't work for me. I also tried the ones I got with the note 7 and they don't work with with OTG.

Just tried mine with a random piano app from play store. No crackling sound at max volume in my regular Pixel. It has some vibrations though which I think is none issue.

And of course there is free, unlimited cloud storage on Pixel smartphones so take as many snaps as you feel you need.

Yea, it just gets annoying at times. My wee girl recently went from cot to "big girl bed" and I was trying to take a photo of her wee smiley face on her first night... And it just constantly blurred in and out as she was laughing and it had no clue where to focus. It's little moments like that where you want to just snap a random memory. After me faffing around for a few seconds, my wife produced her iPhone 6s and *snap* done. :(

I think I asked you before (but could be wrong... or you may have answered) do you have a case on? Some apparently interfere with the focusing. I was taking photo's in a restaurant the other evening and really impressed with how sharp they were. It wasn't crazy dark, but definitely wasn't all that bright.

Yes, you did ask before and I've got a Spigen case. I meant to test without it on but haven't got round to it. That's the point I'm making I suppose... It's random every day use to just decide to take a photo, and holding the button down or having to take the phone out of it's case just feels like work arounds. My wife pressed the button on her iPhone once and didn't need to remove her case. I had a Casemate Tough on my Z3 and it took perfect photos.

In find the difference with this camera very noticeable. I'll try removing the case because if that works then maybe I should be looking at trying a different case.

Cheers.

Anyone moved from an S7 Edge? If so, what do you think?

Yes. Moved for the better software and more reliable updates.

I prefer the smaller size and waterproofing of the S7E, but the software on the Pixel is miles and miles and miles better. Overall happy with the move.

Currently have a Sony Xperia Z3 but due to upgrade in Jan. Anyone else made this jump?

Been looking at a flickr group and some stunning shots with the camera.

I haven't made the jump directly, I had a S6 Edge+ in between my Pixel XL and my Z3 but it's definitely an upgrade that's for sure. Feel and looks wise the Pixel isn't a million miles from the Z3, especially the glass front and in a case it's very similar indeed. The stock android really makes the experience though.

Camera is really good, I haven't had a chance to give it a real good run out like with S6E, I was hardly ever off the camera but the weather has been rubbish for outdoor shots lately, I did manage to snap this yesterday morning from the house though:

Anyone got any suggestions for in-ear headphones with an in-line volume control? I've got a decent enough pair of Sony's, but it's a hassle having to take the phone out of my pocket to adjust volume.
