Is the only difference the title of the window? I get the exact same window as dmpoole does ("www.google.co.uk" as the title). I assume you have some sort of extension which labels it as a JavaScript Application?

Well... it doesn't. The transportation method (Apologies for the incorrect terminology, I'm not a Javascript programmer) for the cookie is the alert function (ie. the prompt which pops up). If the alert doesn't come up, the code isn't being executed and the cookie isn't being set; thus having no effect whatsoever
