GordyR's Beginners Guide to Bodybuilding

Prob just doms imo.

If you have a lay off you tend to suffer badly after the first trip.

I went Monday after 3 weeks off and my forearms were killing on tues & weds without working them directly.

Got some Asics Gel Kayano's today as I over pronate, can't wait to get back into proper running. Hope my legs are pain free soon as I've had shin splints for a while with the wrong shoes.

Oops wrong thread.:o

Good video

But that guy is hardly a average joe if he owns a camera company but hey.

Hi guys

I don't post much in here, but it's that time of year to start looking good and stuff.

Does anyone know what happened to Anthony Ellis private forum? I was a pretty active member, but i've just found out that it's gone down. Is anyone else on here a member?

Hey Guys new to gyming

Been going to DW in Milton Keynes now for about a week do twice a week currently.
Trying to work on my shoulders and arms both triceps and biceps.
i currently weight 11stone5, can anyone advise me on what i should be doing.

My meals are fine i eat a well balanced diet, tend to eat lots of pasta with chicken and Currys with rice, and i snack in the evening with Cheese on toast.

N00bie: you might be better posting this in the Gym Rats thread as it is the more active now but it depends what you want to get out of the gym - generally speaking though unless you also work your legs then you're seriously restricting your potential for growth. Your diet may also not be quite as good as you think it is, however again it will somewhat depend on what you are trying to do.

Just sat and read this, what a great help to a beginner.

Looking for a slight bit of advice though, I have just started bodybuilding (~3 weeks). Though I am on pretty low weights just now, 50kg bench is the best so far!

I am finding it pretty good and am seeing progress. But deadlifts! I can't get the hang of them at all, I am lifting low weights to get the technique right but I just keep bending my back! The guy I go with keeps giving me tips, but I think he is secretly getting annoyed.

Is there any other noob tips for nailing the deadlift, and why am I struggling so much to not bend my back!

Have a look in the Gymrats thread, there's some tips about deadlifts over the last couple of pages but as mentioned there have a search for Mark Rippletoe's videos on YouTube as he sets out the motion in good detail.

Thanks for that. Will have a look. Very frustrating, trying to get it right. Plus lifting very low weights to get the technique right sucks.

you might have to lift heavier to work on form, i find it hard to squat with perfect form if i don't have enough weight on the bar (sounds weird i know) Same with deads but not so much.
have a look at this article and video, very good info for making your deadlift as efficient as possible.

Ah ok thanks Semi, trying to bulk and put some muscle on me arms.
Forgot i do leg exercise the one when u push the weights .

get your diet sorted, read chris aceto's championship bodybuilding.
Then have a look at a strength/hypertrophy routine.
Being consistent in the gym and having a spot on diet is the key to building muscle.
Oh and get off the leg press and into the squat rack!
